Ugly Betty Episodes 4.04, 4.05 Titles and Synopses
October 20, 2009 by Tom
Want to know what’s going on with Ugly Betty after this week’s episode 4.03, Blue on Blue? Here are the titles and synopses for episodes 4.04 and 4.05 (hat tip SpoilerTV).
Episode 4.04 is entitled "The Wiener, the Bun and the Boob". (Heh). The synopsis:
Betty is overwhelmed with her editorial work, so Wilhemina assigns Marc to be Betty’s temporary assistant. Betty’s story idea to cover the worst jobs in New York goes south when she has to dress up as a hot dog and do a Bollywood dance number. Meanwhile, Marc frets that he’ll never be taken seriously by his …read more
Ugly Betty Episode 4.01 and 4.02 Full Recap
October 18, 2009 by Tom
Here is the full recap of Ugly Betty episodes 4.01 and 4.02 “The Butterfly Effect”. Since this was a two-hour episode, it pretty darned long (although sometimes I can’t help myself).
Two contradicting things stand out to me: this was one of the better episodes of the show, putting this season on a great track, and unfortunately, the ratings weren’t that good. This is not unexpected – I’m actually amazed that they only lost less than a million total viewers from last season’s finale considering:
It was a Friday night.
A good number of people tuned in last week, not seeing …read more
Ugly Betty Episode 4.01 – 2 Quick Thoughts
October 17, 2009 by Tom
Usually, when we fans want to compliment something about an episode of Ugly Betty, we say it was “season 1 – worthy”.
But, last nights season 4 premiere, episode 4.01 (and 4.02), “The Butterfly Effect” was wonderful, yet I think saying “it was like season 1” would be an insult.
The show is growing up a little. “The Butterfly Effect” was enjoyable for reasons all its own. My favorites?
Betty’s transformation. So, they aren’t handling it with a Nanny McFee subtlety, but this is television. I loved how Betty played with her bangs the entire episode, as if she was subconsciously …read more
Mark Indelicato Talks About Justin in Ugly Betty Season 4
October 16, 2009 by Tom
Mark Indelicato recently spoke to TV Guide about his character Justin’s place in Ugly Betty season four. Justin will have an important role in the new season, one of the few Suarez-related story lines we know about right now.
As far as Justin entering high school, Indelicato says, “Justin is a freshman in high school this year, and he’s not what the other kids are. The kids are superficial and don’t look at him for who he is. You’re new in a school, you’re around people you don’t know, you’re intimidated by kids who’ve been there longer than you. So …read more
Vanessa Williams Talks About Ugly Betty Season 4
October 14, 2009 by Tom
Here is an AP interview with Vanessa Williams about the upcoming season of Ugly Betty (premiering this Friday, October 16).
First off, there are some scenes from the new season interspersed with the interview.
Vanessa talks about the physical changes in Betty, and gives some specifics (I like the phrase “her silhouette is changing”). She says the socks are going to go (I guess that will be later this season) and that we’ll see Betty’s legs for the first time.
She hints about “a couple of relationships from her past” – these are Connor and Nico, I’m guessing. She says that Grant …read more
TV Guide Network Goes For The Full Betty
October 13, 2009 by Tom
TV Guide Network is really embracing its new association with Ugly Betty. As you probably know, the network will air encore presentations of first-run airings, approximately one week after the episodes air on ABC. For instance, episode 4.01 / 2 “The Butterfly Effect” will air on ABC this Friday, October 16, and will air on TV Guide Network, the following Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23rd.
The network is promoting the heck out of this (hello? ABC? This is how you promote a show!). The following specials will air in anticipation of the premiere Oct 22:
“inFANity: Ugly Betty” airs …read more
Ugly Betty Premiere Moved to October 16th!
October 2, 2009 by Tom
I don’t know what the heck this means. ABC issued a press release saying that the 2-hour season premiere of Ugly Betty has been moved back a week to October 16th.
I have no idea what their reasoning is (some big competing event? something big on cable?), but I’m pretty angry about this. How many times can they jack around Ugly Betty fans with scheduling changes? We are very loyal, but this is ridiculous!
But, I want to know why this decision was made almost at the last minute. We’ve already had to wait longer than most other shows’ fans to …read more
Ugly Betty Behind The Scenes Preview of Season Four
September 29, 2009 by Tom
Here is an official behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the Ugly Betty season 4 premiere (specifically, 4.02, The Butterfly Effect Part 2).
We see the cast and crew filming at the UN, working on Betty’s feature article – which of course goes horribly wrong. There are fisticuffs!
Daniel Eric Gold says that they have the “two nights here at the UN”, and Vanessa Williams, looking fresh as ever, is surprised that she is giving an interview at 3am.
Something about the quotes from the producers struck me, especially when Jim Klever-Weis says that for the first time we’ll see Betty as a …read more
Ralph Macchio Tweet: Archie Officially Returning
July 27, 2009 by Tom
Ralph Macchio on Friday posted on Twitter about his status with Ugly Betty:
“4 all inquiring about Ugly Betty. Just got official call that Archie will b back in Season 4. 4 how much, how long and when. Don’t know yet”
It actually surprised me that this had not happened yet. Judging by (Macchio’s character) Archie’s story lines at the end of Ugly Betty season 3, it seemed a given that Macchio would be back. Here you had a love interest who seemed to have good chemistry with one of the important characters, and really seemed to hit it off with …read more
Big News: Ugly Betty Premiere Will Be 2 Hours!
June 10, 2009 by Tom
Check out the news from The Futon Critic: Ugly Betty will begin season 4 with a 2-hour premiere!
Interestingly, Betty’s season premiere will air on October 9th at 9/8c, a week or two after most of the network’s other premieres. The first regular showing after the two hour episode will be Friday, October 16.
I wonder if the two hour episode will be two episodes back-to-back. I’m guessing this is the case – this, along with the back-to-back 2-hour finale episode, makes up a little for the episodes lost during the WGA strike. This puts the show that much closer to …read more
