Here is the full recap (finally!) of Ugly Betty episode 3.14 – A Mother Of A Problem.
On second viewing, I liked this episode more than the first time.  One of the commentors was right, the episode was pretty much well written and acted.  I thought Ignacio’s enthusiasm for Archie was a little over the top (he’s lived in the US for over 25 years, certainly he knows the level of “celebrity” a local councilman has!)
The biggest writing glitch to me was the absolute omission of any reference to baby William.  What’s up with that?

I’m curious what you thought of last night’s episode of Ugly Betty – 3.18, A mother of a Problem. It’s kind of hard to put a finger on it; I thought that all of the elements of a great episode were there, but when it was over, I just felt that it was a good episode.
The writing and acting were good (the dialog, especially Marc’s, was outstanding). The story lines all moved forward (except Amanda and Christina), and Betty had to work her way out of an embarassing situation, which is always fun to watch.

Wecome to our weekly gathering of Ugly Betty fans, as we watch and react to a newly aired episode (In the east coast, at least). This week’s episode is 3.18, A Mother of a Problem.
Betty meets Matt’s mother (guest star Christine Baranski) but things don’t go as she expects. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina gets creative to solve a cash flow problem, Daniel deals with the latest wrinkle in his relationship with Molly, and the Suarez family conspire to set Hilda up with Archie (guest star Ralph Macchio), the promising city councilman from Queens.

To me, it seems obvious, the purpose of bringing in Matt’s Mother (Christine Baranski), and making her so chillingly cold, cruel, and unaccepting of Betty.  Doesn’t that sound like someone we remember from seasons 1 and 2?
The writers, try as they might, have cast their lot with Wilhelmina being, for the most part, on the Meades’ (and Betty’s) “side”. Also, sometime between season 2 and today, Marc and Amanda became friends (although they tease) with Betty.  And of course, …read more
