Teri reveals at the secrets of Rebecca Romjin’s beautiful Emmy look in a very in-depth post.  A little taste:

The palette of colors in Smashbox’s Eye Shadow Trio ($28) in Multi-Flash are the most perfect shades to recreate Rebecca’s beautiful eye. Finish the eye with a few stokes of your favorite black mascara, and then it is onto the lips. Notice how matte and neutral pink her lips are. It really compliments the entire effect.

My wife has skin that is very close in tone to Romjin’s.  What’s the blog equivalent of leaving a magazine open on the page of an article you want your spouse to read on the coffee table?

Directing for Variety Music or Comedy Series: Winner – Rob Marshall for the Tony Bennett special.  Boy they don’t give them long for acceptance speeches…

Lead Actor in Miniseries or Movie: Winner – Robert Duvall, who else!

7:54 Robert Duvall just said “Thank you for being here” – If he had added “Please try the veal”, it would had been a perfect moment!

7:59 Queen Latifah, looking beautiful, paying tribute to Roots.  Nice.  That was THE must-watch-TV of my youth.  Most of the cast is on stage, how cool.  Has it really been 30 years?

Oustanding Miniseries: Winner – Broken Trail .  It’s winning a lot of Emmys tonight.  Go Robert Duvall!

8:10 – Sopranos just won the directing and writing awards for drama series.  My connection crapped out there for a second, so I missed some of that – sorry.

I’m really digging this Macy’s commercial.  Thank God Peyton Manning isn’t in it!

8:14 – Has anyone noticed Ryan Seacrest hasn’t had very much screen time since he made the joke about Paula Abdul? 

They sure are advertising the “Oscar” type movies tonight.

8:51 – Directing miniseries or movie (You think wounded knee or broken trail will win?) No, it’s Masterpeice Theater (better say that with a British accent!).  Now, for writing (miniseries).  Winner: Materpiece Theater.  Cool!

9:04 – Al Gore gets an Emmy for CurrentTV.  I think there might be a recount, though.

9:07 – Brad Garrett just made a great boobie joke.  Individual performance in variety or music program:  Winner – Tony Bennett!  He just thanked Target just like a NASCAR driver after he wins.

9:14 – Guest actor/actress in a comedy series – Stanley Tucci and Elaine Stritch.  Salma was robbed! 

9:15 – Directing in comedy series.  Winner – Richard Shepard, UGLY BETTY!!!  The pilot did rock BTW. 

Writing for a comedy series: Winner – Greg Daniels, The Office  I had a feeling they’d win this one.

9:19 – What the heck is Seacrest wearing? At least now we have Wayne Brady.  OK, outstanding reality competition.  This is kind of funny how they are setting this up.  OMG.  This is hilarious!  Anyway, WINNER: The Amazing Race.  The Emmy voters really love that show.  I was hoping DWTS would get it.

9:36 – Colbert and Stewart have a pretty good bit going.  Outstanding Actor in Comedy Series: Winner – Ricky Jervais.  OMG, they let Steve Carrell come onstage instead. 

Lead Actress in Drama series: Sally Field!  She still looks great.  Although she just got bleeped.

9:50 – Oustanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: America Ferrera!!!!!!  I knew it!  “Truly amazing thing that happens when your drams come true”.  Her fellow castmembers were truly excited.

9:55: Outstanding actor in a drama series.  Winner: James Spader.  Boy, did I get that one wrong.

One thing is sure, they probably won’t be doing this in the round again.  That seems to be the most frequent comment: the seating sucks.

10:05 – Outstanding Comedy Series: Winner – 30 Rock.  Shoulda been Ugly Betty. Oh, well.  30 Rock is pretty good, though.

They’re really rushing the show now, because they’re running behind.

10:10 – Outstanding Drama Series – Winner: The Sopranos.

Newlywed Jerry O’Connell talked to OK! about married life to his wife, actress Rebecca Romjin: “It’s just so much easier to be married. It’s a great feeling. It’s kinda fun. It is highly recommended.”Also, Jerry gave some good advice for the way he keeps things romantic now that they’ve taken the plunge. He said, “I always get flowers for her at the supermarket.”And is there a baby Romjin-O’Connell on the way for these two? “I hope so. Fingers crossed. Now that we’re married, we’re allowed to go all the way,” he joked.

Now, while O’Connell gets busy (poor guy), we have time to ponder this:  what would the Ugly Betty writers do with a “pregnant” Alex Meade?  Sure, they could write Romjin out of the show for a while (a trip to Brazil, maybe?), but why spoil the fun?  In the campy spirit of the show, here’s some directions they could go if Romjin was with child:

• A season finale reveal that Alexis was not really Alex after a sex change, but a long-lost sister Alicia, the “other” daughter of Bradford and Faye, long ago abandoned, embittered, and vowing to have her revenge on the entire Meade family.
• The wreck at the end of season 1, caused a rare disorder in Alexis which causes her to pretend like she’s pregnant.
• They could just get tacky and skip the pregnant angle altogether, and have Alexis get fat, as they are doing with Posh Spice.

 There are many, many other wild and crazy directions they could go with this.  What do you think?

It’s finally here!  Ugly Betty – The Complete First Season is now available (I’ll be getting mine during lunch hour). 

Last night, all the stars of the show came out to Sunset Strip for the DVD release party.  As told on ETOnline:

AMERICA FERRERA and her fellow cast members hit the famed Sunset Strip in Hollywood Monday night for the “Ugly Betty” season one DVD release party.

“I crack up the most, and I am kind of useless when I am behind the camera if anybody else is in front of the camera, because if they are doing something funny, I can’t contain it. I am the worst. I make them do like 50 takes,” America admits to ET.

Those outtakes are part of the special bonus features included in the DVD set, which also takes a look at how to get “Bettyfied.”

Which leads into the next tidbit about those very famous pearly whites:

Which brings up the rumor that America’s smile is insured for $10 million big ones!

“I don’t think so anymore,” she explains. “It was only during the time that I was doing a campaign with Aqua Fresh to benefit a charity called Smiles for Success, so it was part of the campaign to bring attention to the charity.”

Wow!  Aqua Fresh must really  like America’s teeth!  It was for charity, of course, but great googly moogly – I couldn’t get my own teeth insured for $100!  However, she has the most luminescent smile in television; I just use mine to eat steak.  More on the party:

Also on hand for the swanky shindig were VANESSA WILLIAMS, REBECCA ROMIJN, ERIC MABIUS and ANA ORTIZ, who told us that America was a surprise guest at her June 9th wedding to NOAH LEBENZON.

“I was getting ready, putting on my wedding dress and all of a sudden America walks into my bridal suite and I just couldn’t believe it,” Ana says. “She flew in from Greece.”

And America explains, “I was shooting a movie over the hiatus in Greece, and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to make it, but then I did. That was really a wonderful experience to be there for Ana.”

You can’t help but get the feeling that the cast of this show gets along very well.  This is absolutely KEY to chemistry in a TV show, I believe.  It’s either there, or it’s not, and from what I’ve seen, the cast of Ugly Betty is becoming a family.

All right now, if you’ve never seen the show, or if you’d really just like a refresher, the first season DVD is out, so run on out and get yours!  I want you to have your Betty knowledge up to speed, because we’re going to be getting into some hardcore UB topics in the next few weeks.
