OK, so I made fun of it a little (saying it heralded in the return of the poofy blouse), but that was before I knew I could buy it for my wife! As a reminder, it’s what Amanda is wearing in this video:

The blouse will be on aution at www.clothesoffourback.org beginning tonight (Thursday, May 1) and ending Thursday, May 22 (the day of the season finale). I am so going to bid on it. Just to say I did, and because it’s for a good cause.

The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation is a 501c3 organization that hosts charity auctions showcasing today’s hottest celebrity attire. Items are put up for bid to the public with proceeds going to benefit children’s charities. Clothes Off Our Back was founded by actors and philanthropists Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford, whose efforts, along with their celebrity and designer friends, have helped improve the lives of children across the globe.

So, have you heard the new casting rumor going around that Project Runway winner Christian Siriano will appear as a guest star on Ugly Betty? I can’t think of a better fit: fashion designer, over the top, almost as short as America Ferrera, bubbly and absolutely fabulous.

Publicly, the rumors first surfaced yesterday (supposedly put out there by Siriano’s people themselves), but I’ve learned to hold my fire on passing along the casting rumors till a trusted source repeats the news. As an ABC rep told EOnline, “We hear this stuff all the time,” the rep said. “Every day it’s someone new.” There are more rumors for Ugly Betty than Dancing With the Stars.

EOnline has picked it up – that’s good enough for me! Of course, the rumors for little-known sites sometimes turn out to be true as well. There was truth to the Lindsay Lohan rumors, for instance, even though she won’t appear this year. Ellen, Regis, and the View should be all over this next week.

Keeping with the tradition of having huge stars of fashion and the big and small screens appear on the show, I think Siriano might be the best of all. I just can’t decide if pairing him up with Marc (not romantically, but scene-wise) would just be a little too much diva on the screen at one time. I think Christian needs a straight man (no pun intended) to bounce his personality off – maybe a storyline with Christina – or better yet, Claire! He could be signed to design fabulous clothes for mature folks , featured in HotFlash! Science Fiction? I think not.

Key to all of this will be Sivio Horta’s handling of the cameo, if it happens. But, I have faith – Victoria Beckham’s appearance was actually quite funny.

Eric Mabius and Rebecca Romijn could be very funny if their characters try to convince their mother that Siriano probably isn’t the best to design for the AARP set. The cringe factor might be, um, fierce, ala Desperate Housewives. I smell an Emmy!

Divas ALWAYS fit in on Ugly Betty. Get the deal done, ABC! I mean, just watching Siriano on The Tonight Show last night convinced me he’s be GREAT on the show.
