Anyway, Ugly Betty made the list.  Not surprisingly, the suggested hook up is a Detty hook up.  As their caption (submitted by a fan) to a photo of Daniel and Betty says, “I know [creator Silvio Horta] is saying no, but the fans say yes. I kind of thought it was the point of the show. She was hired by his father to be a competent assistant he was in no danger of sleeping with. In the end, they should absolutely get together and bring it full circle.”

Since every (or almost every) incarnation of this show has ended with the “Daniel” character getting together with the “Betty” character (SirLizard can verify), this discussion will always be there under the surface.

I also think that Silvio Horta, no matter what he says publicly, might be steering us in that direction.  EveryGirl Molly was a surrogate Betty, and sex addict Matt is a surrogate Daniel (especially with his new, slick look).

My thinking on this has evolved a little over the years.  When the show is winding down (and let’s face it, they’ll know this winter if season four will be the last for Ugly Betty), I’d like to see the two get together.  They could have several episodes exploring the excitement and confusion of this. Then in the series finale, I’d like to see Daniel propose.

Betty could accept, and that would surely be a fitting ending for the show.  Even better, Betty could turn him down.

The couple could then declare their eternal friendship, and Betty will have truly grown up before our eyes.

(There is the added benefit that such an ending would leave the Henry, Gio and Daniel love stories still possible in the dreams of the fans of each character).

But, I could also live with Betty and Daniel hooking up, too.

I see that the character Natalie, Daniel’s new assistant played by Sigler, will have some pretty wild tastes in fashion.  I’ll leave it to you fashionistias to judge her look, but I think it’s almost Betty-like.  I THINK Patricia Field does that to characters she wants to appear approachable and non-threatening.  (Think about it – the better dressed you are, the higher chance you’re up to no good on Ugly Betty).

Are those Lohan leggings?   

Regardless, Sigler still looks beautiful.  And she seems to have caught Daniel in a happy moment:

According to reports, Natalie is supposed to be “spiritual”, and meets Daniel in a bereavement support group.  As I’ve said before, I sincerely hope she’s not being brought in to be Daniel’s new squeeze, at least not until LATE in season four, if we get there.  Between Wilhelmina’s lunatic sister and his true love’s tragic end, Daniel needs a romantic rest, I think.

She IS supposed to have some kind of secret that might pit her against Betty, though.  I can’t wait to see what that’s about.

It appears that Eric Mabius’ beard will indeed end up onscreen, at least for a while.  Daniel is obviously distraught (as expected), and Betty seems to need comforting, too.

This outfit is more season 3 Betty than the new, more stylish Betty we’ve been promised for season 4.  It’s not that the top doesn’t match in general, but the floral pattern and crazy shoes just seem overdone.  Betty’s hair IS perfectly straight, though. 

I’ve said it before, Mabius looks great when he’s in his usual designer suit, but he also does casual quite well.

It appears that one side of Betty’s glasses are taped as if they had been broken; I wonder what the story is with that?

Finally, in this photo set was a strange one of a rather odd looking dog – the caption just said “America Ferrera’s dog”.  Now, I’ve seen photos of America’s dogs visiting her on the set before; the ones I have seen are big dogs.  My guess, based on the way the dog is “dressed”:  maybe it’s part of the scene?  Regardless, it’s cute.

I see that we have the return of Bearded Mabius, who always appears in the Ugly Betty offseason.  Since filming on Betty season 4 is already underway, I think we have to assume the Mabius’ beard will make it onscreen.  Perhaps it will be an outward sign of Daniel’s mourning of his departed bride, Molly.

Mabius’ real bride, Ivy, looks lovely here,  That is an extremely flattering dress.

And, of course, Mr Mabius always looks sharp.

Also at the special screening were George Hamilton, Eli Roth, Vanessa Ferlito, Mike Myers, Gina Gershon and John Stamos, and many others.

Unlike the “Bettys”, the leading males of the show around the world are all handsome.  I’ll leave it to those of you who are experts at rating male attractiveness to pick your favorites.

I think Eric Mabius stacks up pretty well, but what do I know?

From time to time, I’ll see La Fea Más Bella on Telemundo and watch for a while.  Granted, i don’t understand the language, but even with that handicap, I can still tell that Jaime Camil plays Armando much more “seriously” than Eric Mabius plays Daniel.  However, that’s to be expected because of the telenovela nature of La Fea.

By the way, this song seems to be a modern equivalent of Donna Summer’s I Feel Love.

I wonder: do any of you enjoy comparing the various versions of the show around the world as much as I do?

The man is a family man.

Mabius told People, about having two very small children, "We (he and wife Ivy Sherman) take turns sleeping.  Some nights we get sleep, most nights we don’t."

His life may seem boring to TMZ and Perez Hilton, but I find Mabius’ paternal dedication to be quite refreshing.

As for his character, Daniel, there is no doubt that he has progressed more than any other character on the show this season.  He started the season wallowing in Jackass territory, embracing his role as editor of Player.  By the end of the season, he’s thinking marriage to his terminally ill girlfriend, and is manning up, putting his entire personal fortune on the line to save the company his father started.  Quite a transformation in a season.

So, happy birthday, Eric!  Enjoy the rest of your thirties, while you’ve got them!

This is obviously not going to be a good episode for Daniel.  (But, it looks like a great one for Eric Mabius).  It still remains to be seen which Hartley will force Daniel to do the bunny suit routine, but regardless, this is definitely going to be rock bottom for Daniel Meade, and probably Meade publications.

And of course, the drama surrounding Wilhelmina’s baby will really heat up.

This is really getting me excited for May 7!

That would be the equivalent of us jumping the shark," he says.  He mentions that the various incarnations of the show throughout the world have the two becoming a pair, and it usually means the end of the show.

"In all the other series … they get married and the show ends! I’m not too excited about that idea!,” says Mabius.

Now, I’ll agree to a point.  Daniel and Betty, IMHO, should NOT become a pair in any episode but the series finale.  Were it to happen, such an event would be the climax of a show we must assume has already had its fate decided by the network.  Maybe at the end of season 4, or if there’s some dramatic ratings turnaround, the end of season 5 or 6.

I see what Mabius is saying, of course.  When he sees a Daniel/Betty kiss in the script, he’ll know the writing is on the wall for the show.  Fair enough.  Neither Mabius, nor us fans, want the end to come anytime soon.

I think the bigger jumping-the-shark moment will be if they ever have one of those scenes where Betty gets made over and emerges looking like America Ferrera at the Emmys.  If they do this, and then whichever male she’s after falls in love with her as a result, I’ll shoot my TV.  The whole premise of the show all these years will have been ruined.

No, her prince must fall for her as she is, IMHO.  OK, the braces can go, because the consensus is that it’s so unrealistic for her to still have them, it’s a distraction.

Whomever Betty ends up with, my fantasy of the final scene involves either a montage or actual musical number with Betty and crew dancing down the street to Jimmy Soul’s If You Wanna Be Happy.  What a scene that would be!

The premiere was held at the Ziegfeld Theater, and everyone seemed to be there, including stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman (there with hubby Keith Urban).

As for Mr Mabius, sorry, ladies – I only have head shots. But they are very nice nonetheless. I can tell you, the more I find out about Mabius – devoted family man, does work with the USO, and a consummate professional – the more I like the guy. Not exactly a bro-mance, but I do admire the man.

And the movie? I want to see it badly. Not only is it my type of film, but there’s a little hometown pride involved: Kidman and Urban live not too far from me. In Nashville, we love our adopted Australians!

Mark Indelicato is growing up FAST. I want to say I ‘get’ the shirt, but…

David Blue hams it up. Ugly Betty’s most likeable guest star keeps it casual. If I were to attempt an untucked shirt with jacket, I just don’t think it would look as cool. But, Blue pulls it off, and seems to be having fun doing it.
