I think that those of you who have been complaining about the show becoming too much of a family drama (I agree, for the most part), are really going to enjoy this episode. Look what we have!

• Fashion Week.
• Marc (and Amanda) running the show. Cue the landmines!
• Betty in a ridiculous outfit for the right reasons.
• Christina having her baby! On the runway!

It’s always hard to tell just from the promos, but I think this might be the best episode of the season (so far). The rules are different for Ugly Betty than other shows. Betty is at its best when it jumps the shark. It needs to jump the shark. Maybe not every week, but over-the-top is what Ugly Betty does best.

And, Michael Urie is at his best when he’s taking charge and organizing the chaos. I’ll bet he really enjoyed filming this one.

For the first time in a while, I’m really looking forward to this episode. What about you?

Betty juggles work and family without much success as she struggles to impress her idol, Jodie Papadakis (guest star Bernadette Peters), the editor running YETI. Things go from bad to worse when she encounters Teri (guest star Nikki Blonsky), an assistant at ELLE magazine, just as the long-running Mode/ELLE rivalry heats up.

I’ve seen a couple of early reviews that say the last few minutes of the episode are not to be missed. Although most of us know (in general) what’s going to happen, I can’t wait. The cast and crew of Ugly Betty are some of the best I’ve ever seen at taking us from comedy to heartbreaking drama on a dime (East Side Story, anyone?).

According to a press release from ABC, Ugly Betty episode 3.13 will be entitled Kissed Off. It looks like it’s going to be one of those pivotal episodes. Here’s the synopsis:

Betty contemplates making a personal decision to help her family and finances. But things keep sidetracking her – like the fact that sexy neighbor Jesse (guest star Val Emmich) is suddenly interested in her again. Meanwhile, Daniel tries to hide his tracks as Connor is determined to find out the identity of the mystery man who stole Molly’s heart.

So, talk about conflict. Betty seems to be ready to move back home to help her family after Ignacio’s heart attack, but then Jesse throws her a curve by being interested in her. (I find the “again” to be questionable – he has been overly friendly, and didn’t spurn Betty’s obvious crush, but I never got the impression he was “interested”. That’s from a guy’s POV, though.)

I guess we finally have the answer as to whether or not Val Emmich will be back on the show.

The Molly/Connor/Daniel thing looks interesting from this perspective: it doesn’t mention a Connor relationship with Wilhelmina. I don’t know what that means, but obviously Connor is not yet over Molly, and SHE was the one who broke it off.

When this story line is over, I could almost guarantee you Connor will no longer be at Mode.

I hope circumstances occur that allow Betty to keep her apartment. It gives the show a totally different feel from seasons 1 & 2, and there is still plenty of opportunity for interaction at the Suarez house. But then again, I love the fact that Betty is staying true to character, and putting family first.

I love Ignacio’s reaction (pretty much what would be my reaction). I also love Justin’s “I’ll get the recap later” after they start discussing the subject of Betty’s virginity.

Someone said it before, and I’ll say it now: I sense an airport scene cliffhanger. Of course, the show hasn’t moved to NYC yet, so they couldn’t actually film it at JFK, but airports are airports.

What I want to know – is this Henry’s first appearance in the episode? He shows up after a hard breakup, and the first thing he does is gets down on one knee?

We won’t know for sure till next September, but I say Betty’s going to reject them both – one permanently. The other one will still be around, flirting and wooing, but I would guess that Betty will be more independent and most of the drama will focus around work next year. Just reading between the lines of several interviews with the creators of the show.

We’ll see!

So I was wrong, it isn’t a musical number.

There have always been elements of hit movies in Ugly Betty, (starting, of course, with The Devil Wears Prada), and now I guess it’s time for Mean Girls. THis is pretty funny, and sets up what I hope are going to be some interesting scenes and flashbacks next year. I still think Lohan’s adult character should be obsessed with celebrities.

I’ll be honest – I think that in a comedic sense, nobody in the cast has better chemistry with America Ferrera than Freddy Rodriguez (except maybe Becki Newton). This scene reminds me of the “quack, woof” scene from episode 2.03 (Betty’s Wait Problem).

Benry fans, do not despair at the end of this video. We KNOW that Henry makes a return in the finale, and what ABC doesn’t show you here is that Betty slaps Gio after the kiss (you can see it in the promo for this episode).

I’ll be honest, I like this agressive Gio much more than the pushover Gio who tried a little too hard on Betty’s Birthday, and was a little TOO nice to Henry in episode 2.15. He seems to bring the best out in Betty. If it’s Gio Betty stays with (I personally think she’s going to dump them both), I would prefer it be this version, rather than the sappy one.

I think the part with Daniel and Christian Siriano is not only funny, it’s a good-natured dig at every media writer in the world (including yours truly), who used the word “fierce” in stories about Siriano’s appearance. Yes, it was lame, but it was just too tempting. Believe me, I search the world’s media for stories about Ugly Betty. I can tell you, rare was the writer who resisted temptation to use the ‘F’ word.

Based on this clip, I can’t figure out what Rebecca Romjin is upset about concerning her character. She seems to be the only person in the room with any savvy. Doesn’t that reflect well on her?

Becki Newton steals the scene without saying a word. As usual.

I love how they tied Renee’s unraveling with Siriano and Nina Garcia’s appearances. The writers seem to be on their game!

This is apparently going to be a very, very stressful week for Daniel all around.

When it begins,Betty is seducing Daniel. You read that correctly. Betty is seducing Daniel. Of COURSE things turn out differently than they seem, but it is kind of fun to watch, and I think Eric Mabius plays it absolutely perfectly. He is frozen and doesn’t know what to do. And the POV shot as Betty kisses him is priceless. Beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful, is it just me, or is Betty starting to be hot? Not America Ferrera, but Betty, in all her metal-toothed, red-bespecled, fizzed hair glory?
