The Emmy nominations came out today, and they weren’t too kind to Ugly Betty.  I’ll say it right now: this wasn’t totally unexpected.
First, the good news.  Vanessa Williams was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.  She has been nominated in this category for each of Ugly Betty’s 3 seasons.  Maybe the third time will be a charm for her. 
"I’m thrilled and honored to be nominated again this year," Williams told Insider. "I love my show and my character, Wilhelmina, and this recognition is truly icing on the cake."

I’ll agree with the commeters who have said that something is not quite happening with the dress. From the waist up? Gorgeous. The bottom half would have been good, too, had the dress been floor-length. There’s just something…I don’t know…poofy about it as it was.
That being said, America’s hair and makeup was absolutely beautiful. In fact, it might be the prettiest I’ve ever seen Ferrera “made up”.

Just Wow. Was Ashley Jensen not simply lovely last night at the Emmy Awards?

From the beautiful, classy, extra-long strapless dress, to the blingage to the perfect makeup – Jensen was nothing less than the classiest lady on the red carpet.
Hopefully, one day, she’ll win for her work with Ugly Betty, which I think is underrated (Vanessa Williams and Becki Newton get more screen time, so they are usually first in line for Supporting Actress nominations).

Of course, it’s no secret that Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera is on the Emmy shortlist for Best Actress in a Comedy. If there is an awards show that gives television awards, you can bet that America Ferrera will be nominated in the actress category. And rightly so.
BUT, this year was kind of spotty for Ugly Betty. So, if you want Ferrera to win (and I so desperately DO – we get it, Hollywood, you like Tina Fey – enough already), it would be of concern just which episode was submitted to showcase America’s talents.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello has decided to make life easier for the voters for this year’s Emmys – he’s created his own ballot. He calls it a “dream ballot”, and this is the 7th consecutive year he’s done it. Now, Ausiello has great taste in television, if not in haircuts, so voters would be wise to listen.

In light of this post, you might think I’m crazy and I don’t want to go there, but go there I will.  Part of the fun of watching awards shows is seeing “who” the stars are wearing and what look they have chosen to present.  I think all of the stars of Ugly Betty presented themselves well, some, like Vanessa Williams, were more daring, and some, like Ana Ortiz, went for the classic look.
