Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta was there, along with Becki Newton and other crew members. Of course, Elle editor in Chief Roberta Miles and creative director Joe Zee were there.

It would seem that both Myers and Zee were self-critical of their performances. Zee had a hard time watching himself on screen (I can relate). “It’s so hard for me to sit in that room! I hate watching myself,” he said while standing outside at the bar during a commercial break.

I found it interesting that both Myers and Zee, editors that they are, reworked their lone zingers. Myers changed her original line “Bite me!” to “Bite this!” because the former seemed too crude. Zee’s line, one of the funniest of the night, was his own creation: [To Wilhelmina] “I’m not going to be distracted by how fat you look in white.”

Maybe we’ll see more Elle/Mode collaboration in the future?

I’m pretty sure when Nina Garcia signed to guest star on Ugly Betty, she was still fashion director at Elle Magazine. It’s my understanding that this week’s episode (2.15 – Burning Questions) has the magazine as part of the plot.

Now, new details are starting to come out about the Ugly Betty season finale, and once again, they involve Elle.

Editor Robbie Myers and creative director Joe Zee are going to appear in the season finale. They will be a part of the big intra-company softball game. As we’ve reported, Naomi Campbell will be playing on the Elle team. This has the makings to be a very special episode. It also gives me an idea for future episodes:

Since they’ve incorporated a real-life magazine into the plot, why not kick it up a notch in season 3? I envision a hostile takeover attempt, with the Mode gang hanging on for dear life without Bradford or Alexis to guide them. All could seem lost until an Elle photographer takes some suggestive photos of a 15-year-old tween idol, causing an uproar and killing the merger. Cliff St Paul could then save the day by providing the superstar with a more wholesome photoshoot.

Say, isn’t Miley Cyrus still under contract with Disney/ABC?

Call me, Silvio.

So, have you seen the “First Look” article in People Magazine’s TV Watch section about Christian Siriano’s appearance on Ugly Betty? The more I hear about this, the more I want to see it.

This is how they are going to work Siriano into the plot: Mode magazine is trying to convince Christian to work with them for a fashion spread instead of their competitors. (If they mention Elle by name, it would be SOOOOO catty!)

So the designer shows up for a meeting with an entourage of models wearing his designs and Runway judge Nina Garcia (soon to be former Elle fashion director), who also plays herself on the episode.

“Filming Ugly Betty was amazing,” Siriano, 22, said. “The cast was the most fun, lively and supportive ever.”

About the cast of Ugly Betty: “Ooooh, they’re as fierce and ferocious as they can be,” raves Siriano. “Vanessa Williams is the queen of fierceness and Becki Newton is the princess … I’m inviting them all to my Spring 2008-09 collection — it’ll be a great front row!”

The “sneak” photos are pretty exciting in their own right. It just gives me the giggles seeing how the models and Vanessa Williams tower over the petite Siriano. And apparently he’s designed “the new black”.

The outfit he designed for Becki Newton…it’s a litte ‘out there’, but it seems to fit her personality perfectly.

So, are you looking forward to seeing Siriano (and Nina Garcia)?
