Betty Fans: You Can Bid On Amanda’s Siriano-Designed Blouse

May 1, 2008 by Tom

Heads up, Ugly Betty fans! According to ABC, the beautiful black blouse worn by Amanda (Becki Newton) on tonight’s episode is going to be autioned off by the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation. It was designed specifically for Newton by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, who guest stars on the episode.

OK, so I made fun of it a little (saying it heralded in the return of the poofy blouse), but that was before I knew I could buy it for my wife! As a reminder, it’s what Amanda is wearing in this video:

The blouse will be on aution at www.clothesoffourback.org beginning tonight (Thursday, May 1) and ending Thursday, May 22 (the day of the season finale). I am so going to bid on it. Just to say I did, and because it’s for a good cause.

The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation is a 501c3 organization that hosts charity auctions showcasing today’s hottest celebrity attire. Items are put up for bid to the public with proceeds going to benefit children’s charities. Clothes Off Our Back was founded by actors and philanthropists Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford, whose efforts, along with their celebrity and designer friends, have helped improve the lives of children across the globe.

No doubt we’ll talk about this more at tonight’s live blog!

Video: Tony Plana and Mark Indelicato Interview

April 30, 2008 by Tom

Ugly Betty’s Tony Plana and Mark Indelicato recently spoke with ETOnline, and of course, we’ve got the video!

There are no true spoilers in the interview (they talk about Christian Siriano, Nina Garcia, and Eddie Cibrian, who will be guest starring). However, it’s nice to see Indelicato in an interview - he really interviews well for such a young man. And of course, Tony Plana is a classic.

Plana says that Siriano is just the start: next season there will be more designers on the show, and for many of them, a line will debut on Ugly Betty! What a great tie-in with the fashion industry!

As always, I’ll pass along any news when I find out the designers and/or lines that will be featured.

[EDITED] Video placed after the ‘more’ link because the darned thing autoplays and there’s no way to turn it off. But if you haven’t seen it, take a look after the jump, it’s worth it!

Ugly Betty Episode 2.15 Sneak Peek Video 2

April 28, 2008 by Tom

Here is the second sneak peek video relased by ABC for Ugly Betty episode 2.15, Burning Questions. There is SO much going on in just this this short video clip!

I think the part with Daniel and Christian Siriano is not only funny, it’s a good-natured dig at every media writer in the world (including yours truly), who used the word “fierce” in stories about Siriano’s appearance. Yes, it was lame, but it was just too tempting. Believe me, I search the world’s media for stories about Ugly Betty. I can tell you, rare was the writer who resisted temptation to use the ‘F’ word. :)

Based on this clip, I can’t figure out what Rebecca Romjin is upset about concerning her character. She seems to be the only person in the room with any savvy. Doesn’t that reflect well on her?

Becki Newton steals the scene without saying a word. As usual.

I love how they tied Renee’s unraveling with Siriano and Nina Garcia’s appearances. The writers seem to be on their game!

This is apparently going to be a very, very stressful week for Daniel all around.

Ugly Betty Episode 2.15 Promo Photos 2

April 18, 2008 by Tom

ABC has released another set of stills from Ugly Betty episode 2.15 (Burning Questions). These are almost exclusively centered around the appearances of Christian Sirano and Nina Garcia.

All in all, it appears there is going to be a lot going on in this episode, and I can’t WAIT!

Christian Siriano On Ugly Betty Set

So, have you seen the “First Look” article in People Magazine’s TV Watch section about Christian Siriano’s appearance on Ugly Betty? The more I hear about this, the more I want to see it.

This is how they are going to work Siriano into the plot: Mode magazine is trying to convince Christian to work with them for a fashion spread instead of their competitors. (If they mention Elle by name, it would be SOOOOO catty!)

So the designer shows up for a meeting with an entourage of models wearing his designs and Runway judge Nina Garcia (soon to be former Elle fashion director), who also plays herself on the episode.

“Filming Ugly Betty was amazing,” Siriano, 22, said. “The cast was the most fun, lively and supportive ever.”

About the cast of Ugly Betty: “Ooooh, they’re as fierce and ferocious as they can be,” raves Siriano. “Vanessa Williams is the queen of fierceness and Becki Newton is the princess … I’m inviting them all to my Spring 2008-09 collection — it’ll be a great front row!”

The “sneak” photos are pretty exciting in their own right. It just gives me the giggles seeing how the models and Vanessa Williams tower over the petite Siriano. And apparently he’s designed “the new black”.

The outfit he designed for Becki Newton…it’s a litte ‘out there’, but it seems to fit her personality perfectly.

So, are you looking forward to seeing Siriano (and Nina Garcia)?

ABC Confirms Christian Siriano Appearance On Ugly Betty

March 28, 2008 by Tom

ABC has confirmed that Project Runway winner Christian Siriano will indeed make an appearance on Ugly Betty. But it gets better. According to the release by ABC, Runway judge and Elle Magazine fashion director Nina Garcia will pay a visit to the show in the same episode!

They will film in April, and the episode will air sometime during May sweeps.

I’m sure it will be entirely too irresistable to keep Siriano’s storyline from merging with Alexis; if there ever was a “tranny mess”, well, Alexis is it!

Could it be possible that Garcia and Siriano are going to be on the opposing softball team during that episode? I want to see Siriano swinging a bat! Stay tuned…
