Jensen may be best known as the seamstress Christina McKinney on Ugly Betty (also, Betty’s best friend at Mode), but since leaving the show at the end of season 3 (at least as a regular character), Jensen has been working on the new Jenna Elfman sitcom Accidentally On Purpose.

Jensen plays Elman’s successful sidekick Olivia on Accidentally, and they are not writing Ashley’s real-life pregnancy into the script.

Recently, Ashley spoke to EW’s Watch With Kristin, and was very open to the possibility of a return to Ugly Betty.  "There has been talk of it.  I didn’t die in it. I wasn’t run over by a tractor, and I didn’t fall down an elevator shaft.”

She said, "It’s very feasible that she [Christina] could come back at some point. Henry came back at the end of season three, so maybe at the end of season four. I’d love to do it. I’d love to come back again. I’d be great. It’s all worked out rather well because I simply couldn’t be flying back to New York at the moment, what with my condition [being pregnant]."

Ashley even has her own idea about how Christina returns:  "I would like to see her come back hugely successful, and she gives Wilhelmina a run for her money. Maybe she’s got her own design line, or something, and Wilhelmina needs her design line, so Wilhelmina has to bow down, sort of beg Christina. That’s feasible isn’t it?"

I like it.

Along with working on filming Ugly Betty’s fourth season, Michael has been very busy with the hit off-Broadway play The Tempermentals.  If you are in New York, it looks like the show to see.  Many New York bigwigs and entertainment royalty have already come to see it.  If you are on Twitter, you can follow updates from the show (including notables in the audience at the show’s Twitter page.

On Ugly Betty, Urie really came into his own in season 3.  His character Marc alternated between being Betty’s main rival, and being an ally.  By the end of season 3, you got the feeling that deep down Marc actually likes Betty, although he’d never admit it.

Things I’m looking forward to in Ugly Betty season 4 out of Michael (and Marc) :  more scenes with Mark Indelicato, the return of Patti LuPone (please?), and seeing Urie sing in the musical episode.

She gets a fireworks show every year on her birthday, that’s got to be awesome.  To have the figure she does, she probably doesn’t pig out on BBQ every year, though. 

Newton was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and raised in Guilford, Connecticut.  She graduated with a BA in European History from the University of Pennsylvania.  (I had forgotten this – I would imagine it would make her recent trip to the UK more meaningful).

On Ugly Betty, Newton has played Amanda Tanen (Sommers), Fey Sommers, and Ruthie (in 1.12 – Sophia’s Choice), a role she absolutely shined in.

She also was in the great movie August Rush.

Becki graced the July cover of Lucky Magazine (beautifully).  She told them at the time of the shoot, “I get excited around summer clothes—it’s the one season when you can put together a whole outfit without spending tons of money.”

Happy Birthday Becki!  I hope your hubby Chris Chris Diamantopoulos gives you the Queen for a Day treatment, then you get to enjoy some fireworks!

The man is a family man.

Mabius told People, about having two very small children, "We (he and wife Ivy Sherman) take turns sleeping.  Some nights we get sleep, most nights we don’t."

His life may seem boring to TMZ and Perez Hilton, but I find Mabius’ paternal dedication to be quite refreshing.

As for his character, Daniel, there is no doubt that he has progressed more than any other character on the show this season.  He started the season wallowing in Jackass territory, embracing his role as editor of Player.  By the end of the season, he’s thinking marriage to his terminally ill girlfriend, and is manning up, putting his entire personal fortune on the line to save the company his father started.  Quite a transformation in a season.

So, happy birthday, Eric!  Enjoy the rest of your thirties, while you’ve got them!

Ugly Betty

Plana was born in Havana, Cuba in 1953.  In 1963, his family moved to Miami. He is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and was trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, UK. He has been married to actress Ada Maris since 1988 and they have two children.

Plana has been an outspoken advocate/spokesperson for Latinos in the entertainment field.

I will say this, and I’m pretty sure that many of you will not agree:  on the show, Plana’s character Ignacio is one of the few whose direction has not only seemed right, but has been fun to watch.  The fast food job, his reaction to his overprotective children, the TV cook-off, the relationship with Elena (she’s been missed lately), even the mostly slapstick role Ignacio played in 3.19, The Sex Issue, have been interesting and funny. 

OK, the heart attack that came and went in the blink of an eye was silly, but still, I think the writers overall have done a great job with Ignacio.

Anyway, happy birthday, er, belated birthday, Tony!

She shares April 18th as a birthday with James Woods, Conan O’Brien, Melissa Joan Hart, and even Kourtney Kardashian.

I hope she takes it easy with partner Ryan Piers Williams, or parties it up with Becki Newton, or does whatever she wants today.  And hopefully, she’ll get back to filming the final episodes of Ugly Betty season 3 very soon.  I miss the NY set photos!

As many of you have noted in the comments here, this has been a very confusing year for Ferrera’s character Betty.  Her direction has been so scattered, almost schizophrenic, it has to be the result of a disagreement amongst the writers/producers. I can tell you this, if the show wants to survive season 4, the writers HAVE to come up with a direction and stick to it.

But, enough of my Ugly betty whining.  Today is Ferrera’s day, and I hope she enjoys it fully.

Vanessa is, besides America Ferrera herself, the most important cog in the Ugly Betty ensemble cast.  She represents The Old Guard, and vanity, and blind ambition.  Plus, demo-wise, she is the main cast member of the generation between Judith Light and Eric Mabius.  (One of the reasons I love Vanessa; I am also of that edge of the boomers and genX-ers generation, and she represents us well).

I love her honesty and candor, whether being interviewed by Barbara Walters about Botox, or as Wilhelmina, urging Betty not to stand there with her “talking like a couple of white people”.

And don’t forget, Williams is a wonderful, wonderful singer.  So far, the show has downplayed this fact (Wilhelmina, I think, has never sung on the show).  Hopefully, in an unexpected moment, she’ll break out into song soon.

*As for my omission yesterday, I am sorry.  Without going into it too much, I’m in the middle of a “thing” –  just know that it involves hospitals and a family member.  It should be over soon, but the distraction caused me to miss a few things.  To you VW fans, I’m sorry – normally it would be the first story I post.

Also, because of the uncertainty I have going on right now, there will be no live blog of episode 3.19 tonight.  But expect a full recap soon!

Light has, since her first appearance in season 1, brought a certain “seasoning” to the show. Where Tony Plana has been a grounding force, Light has added the other end of the spectrum. Her character Claire is world-weary, with a touch of instability, yet a fierce loyalty to first her husband, then her children.

Her scenes in and out of prison with Lorraine Toussaint as Yoga were some of the funniest the show has seen (I miss that pairing).

Once again, happy birthday, Judith! And Ugly Betty writers, please try to give her a little more screen time – she’s a wonderful bright spot in hte show this season.

I sometimes wonder what she’d look like without the botox treatments she readily admits she takes. I think she’d still be beautiful, but she feels the need, and it is Hollywood, so botox Vanessa is what we get. Personally, I think it helps her character Wilhelmina really come to life.

Vanessa, have a glorious birthday – then get back to work! We need our Wilhelmina!
