Ana Ortiz and Mark Indelicato in the Bahamas!
October 8, 2009 by Tom
Here are a few photos of Ana Ortiz and Mark Indelicato swimming with a dolphin at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. They were in the tropical location filming a special episode of Ugly Betty.
My FIRST guess would be that this was a side excursion, and not part of a scene for Ugly Betty. Actually, I hope I’m wrong and that this was filmed and will make it to the final cut of the episode. The two are so cute here (not to mention the dolphin)!
I think Mark REALLY enjoyed this. On Twitter, on the morning of October 5th, …read more
Ana Ortiz Hosts FITNESS Games
September 14, 2009 by Tom
This past Saturday found Ugly Betty star and new mother Ana Ortiz in Central park, hosting FITNESS Magazine’s 8th Annual Mind, Body, Spirit Games. (Hat tip – Hissip.com, who also has a couple of nice pics of the incredibly slim Ortiz at the event)
Runners, walkers, and supporters of the FITNESS Mind, Body, Spirit Games enjoyed live music, massages, and wellness classes.
Ana accepted a check for $10,000 on behalf of Developing Artists Theater Company, which is a nonprofit whose mission is providing multicultural children 9-18 with performing arts opportunities. Excellent!
This had to have been quite an event. Bob Harper was …read more
Adam Rodriguez Joins Ugly Betty Cast
September 10, 2009 by Tom
Adam Rodriguez, who most recently has played Eric Delko on CSI Miami, will join the Ugly Betty cast in season four.
Rodriguez will play Bobby, an old flame of Hilda. "He’s an old high school boyfriend, and [he comes] back into their lives," said Rodriguez.
Certainly, this is the character we’ve heard about – the one that is “mobbed up” and has a Hilda-related storyline, right?
"A little romance buds, and there’s some drama to go along with it.", he adds.
When asked which sister he would be involved with (Hilda or Betty), Rodriguez was purposefully vague.
"Maybe a little bit of both," …read more
Ana Ortiz Ready For Second Baby
The baby pipeline that seems to run through the dressing rooms at Ugly Betty won’t be slowing down very soon, that is if Ana Ortiz has her way. She tells OK magazine that she’s ready to have baby number two, just two months after having baby Paloma.
“The sooner the better,” she says. “We’re definitely looking forward to having a playmate for her.”
She was recently at an event at NYC’s Double Tree Metropolitan Hotel, wheeling little Paloma around. “I brought her out because I couldn’t get a babysitter,” she says.
Welcome to parenthood, Ana. I can really relate to …read more
Salma Hayek vs Ugly Betty In ALMA Awards
August 26, 2009 by Tom
The ALMA Award nominations were announced yesterday, and a quirk of fate caused an interesting matchup to occur. Ugly Betty Executive Producer Salma Hayek is nominated in the Best Actress in a TV Comedy category for her work on 30 Rock.
Guess who else is nominated in this category? Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz.
Will Ferrera lose once again to someone on 30 Rock? Just kidding. Hayek was VERY funny on 30 Rock and would deserve the award if she wins.
There’s no TV Movie Drama category, or certainly Ortiz would have been nominated for her …read more
Ugly Betty Does Well Again at the Imagen Awards
August 23, 2009 by Tom
Friday evening, the 24th Annual Imagen Awards were held, and Ugly Betty once again took home awards in many categories.
The Imagen Awards were established in 1985 by Helen Hernandez and producer Norman Lear to encourage and recognize positive portrayals of Latinos in the media.
America Ferrera won Best Actress in Television (an award I was surprised she did NOT win last year).
Ana Ortiz won best supporting actress in Television; she has long deserved recognition for her great work in Betty. Based upon the spoilers we’ve heard thus far, I think this coming season will offer more opportunities for accolades …read more
Ana Ortiz On Hilda, Pregnancy, Elena, Guest Stars, and Betty’s Men
July 13, 2009 by Tom
“I would love to see Hilda pregnant”, says Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz when asked by EOnline’s Kristin if art will imitate life.
“I think she’s going to be hysterical because she’s very vain, and she likes her tight outfits. She’s such a crack-up, but she also loves being a mother. I think that’s where she gets the most pride, from her son and her family.”
True. They had a great opportunity at the end of last season, but I understand why Ana’s pregnancy wasn’t written into the show. With the attention of the plot lines so scattered, not enough attention …read more
Emmy-Watch: Best Supporting Actor/Actress
July 9, 2009 by Tom
It’s that time of year again; everyone seems to be doing some early handicapping the Emmys. The latest entry is Michael Slezak’s prognostication in Entertainment Weekly. And he seems to like Ugly Betty. A lot. (Hey, so do I!)
He doesn’t give an entire list, but Slezak is operating under the assumption that Vanessa Williams is a hands-down favorite for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty. And, although I agree (she’s shown some incredible range in season 3), we Vanessa Williams fans have been burned before when it comes to television’s …read more
Ana Ortiz: Baby Is So Beautiful It’s Staggering
Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz tells hometown paper the Philadelphia Inquirer about her first week as a mama:
“This has been an amazing first week. She is so beautiful it is staggering”, she said, speaking of newborn daughter Paloma Louise Lebenzon. (Hopefully we’ll have a picture soon!)
Ortiz tells a wonderful story about the generosity of co-star America Ferrera, her on-screen sister. On Paloma’s birthday, once Ana, her husband Noah Lebenzon, and baby Paloma were alone, after all the friend and family had left she got a delivery to her room of three dozen freshly baked cookies and ice cold milk from …read more
New Ugly Betty Character, Possible Hilda Story Line
July 2, 2009 by Tom
Our friend Ausiello at EW.com has some interesting Ugly Betty scoopage:
Question: Regarding Ugly Betty, got any spoilers that don’t involve Matt and Betty? –Kelcy Ausiello: Mode’s getting a new editor! Her name’s Amber, she’s in her 20s, she’s Asian, and is a master at the backhanded compliment. Casting is under way. Also, I’m hearing (and already laughing) about a possible mob subplot involving Hilda.
Interesting news about the new editor. I like the backhanded compliment idea because it’ll add some missing snarkiness to the show (if you’ll remember, Charlie did this sort of thing …read more
