Looks like Michael had a tough shoot – all the sand and sea and frozen fruity drinks – I feel sorry for him.    No seriously, I am SOOOO jealous!

Very, very few men have the courage to wear white trunks to the beach – Urie, of course, pulls it off.

I wonder what Marc’s role in the episode can be?  Especially after seeing the pics of Wilhelmina and you-know-who…Marc’s story could center around the whole Wilhelmina’s search for love, money and revenge storyline, or he could be part of the troubled photo shoot, or more than likely, he’s going to be involved in both.

Regardless, I’m glad most of the cast and crew had a little time for R&R.  According to the captions of the photos, Urie was feeding fish with the fruit from his drink.  Brave soul.  Little fish attract bigger fish.

Thanks to UBN commenter  Nanyscia, who made me aware of this great webisode.

In this episode, seems to have been filmed sometime before episode 3.21, The Born Identity.  Marc is babysitting William for Wilhelmina, or so it seems.  Amanda soon discovers Marc isn’t babysitting at all, but spying.

At first, Marc creates a ruse about who he is spying on, but Amanda soon discovers the real object of Marc’s stalking – Jake Gyllenhaal.

Amanda then performs an intervention – they vow to each find love – something besides celebrity stalking and chocolate.  BUT, they do have one more bite of chocolate for the road.

Too good!  I can’t wait to see the new episodes of MAA!  Michael Urie has posted at Twitter that they have already filmed some of the webisodes.  Woot.

I LOVE the joy you see in Ferrera’s face as she greets her dogs.  They have a way of bringing smiles out of us, don’t they?  And I love the fact that Ferrera likes big dogs.

I’m assuming the Golden Retriever is Buddy (as in “Air Buddy”?)  They are both beautiful.

So is this coat worn by Ferrera.  Obviously, you can tell she is mismatched in her clothes underneath, but we’ve all gotten used to that.  Regardless, that coat looks wonderful on her.

It’s good to see they are still filming.  I have been looking almost daily for ABC’s renewal notice for Ugly Betty, but I’ll bet we have to wait till we see how the new comedy block does starting in late March.

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the photos of Ugly Betty executive producer Salma Hayek smoking with her baby nearby while after-Christmas shopping. Needless to say, they’ve caused quite an uproar.

Part of me says, “A Hollywood celebrity smoking? Who woulda’ thunk it?”. Hollywood has a long tradition of smokers, many of whom are considered legends.
And, whose business is it anyways? This is NOT Michael Jackson holding his infant son over a balcony railing. Heck, it’s not even Miley Cyrus riding around without a seat belt. In America, smoking tobacco is not yet illegal.

Yet, there’s another part of me, the ex-smoker and parent, who says, “Someone needs to give Salma a tsk-tsk, if only to protect little Valentina.” America has a strong puritanical streak, and, although it’s no longer focused on sexuality, it can come out when issues like smoking or environmentalism come up. We are not above putting a scarlet “S” on someone.

Exposing a child to second-hand smoke is not the wisest of parental policies.

Also, I’ve seen Eric Mabius quoted on some entertainment blogs as hating to work with Salma because of the smoking, but I can’t confirm that through major media sources. But, it wouldn’t surprise me, if true.

But, then I come back around to thinking it’s none of my business.

On another note, isn’t little Valentina absolutely beautiful?

The still relatively new mom said, “I’m 41 now. And I have to say, it is the best time in my life.”

She gave birth to daughter Valentina Paloma last September, with billionaire fiancé Francois-Henri Pinault.  She revealed that the years had been a learning experience.

“I have learned to enjoy time to be a woman,” she added.

“I have learned to enjoy how to do the most that I can with what I have. It is a good thing to be a 41-year-old Latina woman in America.”

She looks absolutely beautiful – I’d say it’s time Sophia made another appearance on Ugly Betty!

If you’ve been reading here a while, you know that I live in Nashville, TN. Well, they happen to be filming the Hannah Montana Movie here, and Ms. Williams was spotted on the set last week. I need to get my camera and head out there more often.

It would make sense that Williams would have a role in the film. Miley Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest on one of the YouTube installments of the Miley And Mandy Show that the movie would have a whole lot of guest stars. There is a ready stable available from ABC/Disney, including Vanessa. And Williams’ daughter Sasha is at the age where seeing her mother in the Hannah Montana Movie would be quite impressive.

As far as other guest stars go, Country Weekly Magazine has reported that Dolly Parton, Heather Locklear, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could make appearances in the film. Billy Ray Cyrus has also expressed a desire for Willie Nelson to appear.

Williams’ appearance is probably just a cameo, but wouldn’t it be awesome if she were the villian? She seems to have such a good time playing over-the-top Wilhelmina.

Anyway, Vanessa – next time you’re in town, look me up.

I hope Ms Ferrera stays as wonderfully (semi) accessible as she is now.  Moving to New York will mean many more opportunities to “press the flesh”.  It would appear from the interview that Ferrera doesn’t mind the move to New York at all.  I didn’t know this, but she was living in New York when she was cast as Betty.  Come to think of it, I’d imagine most of the cast was, since they filmed the pilot there.

Ferrera will be VERY busy in the upcoming weeks with movie shots and an aggressive schedule for filming Ugly Betty (in case the actors go on strike).  She needs to get all the rest and relaxation she can – we do not want a burned-out Betty next season!

I would LOVE to know who designed this dress.  Very beautiful – it would look wonderful on my wife.

As you know, Ferrera dazzled on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Part of her fabulous look was due to the work of makeup artist Vanessa Scali, who used Lancome products on Ferrera to complete her look.  She used She used Lancôme CILS Booster XL (super-enhancing mascara base) and High Definicils High Definition Mascara with Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in Noir, and used the Color Design Artist Palettes in Couture Warms and Stylish Neutrals for the eyes and on the lips she used Le Lipstiquein Rasinberry and Color Fever Gloss in On Fire.

Then we have this interesting item: apparently on Monday, after a night of SAG partying, America had the audacity to go to lunch with friends sans makeup. 

Many have commented on this, and my favorite take was the one taken by OSoYou: they juxtoposed an ordinary, confident Ferrera with an overdone Paris Hilton getting off a plane.  Give me America any day.

Although, and I know this is heresy, but maybe what Ferrera wears to Wendy’s for lunch with her friends is her business.  Is there ever a time when a Hollywood celebrity can be “off the clock”?

America Ferrera joined the Writer’s Guild of America picket lines Monday in solidarity with the writers.  Notice from this photo that she’s wearing her Betty necklace, and I think, one of Betty’s dresses.  Did she come stright from the set?  If so, that would be quite interesting. Hopefully the actors and runners, showing solidarity will bring the producers back to the table more quickly.

Speaking of, there is a very helpful article in Variety about the runners and others who have dual roles, like Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta:

Silvio Horta, creator-exec producer of ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” was mulling over his next move Tuesday afternoon while walking the picket line in front of Paramount Pictures.

He’s been a part of every final mix session for his show since it began. He and his writers worked until 3:30 a.m. Saturday to finish work on episode 13 of the season.

Horta said he definitely won’t cross a picket line to work on his show, but he knows it would be possible for him to participate by phone. As of late afternoon, he hadn’t decided what to do about the mix session.

“The perfectionist in me wants to participate,” he said. “The Norma Rae in me wants to support my union.”

Read on…Horta isn’t wavering on the issues. “The producers’ position is just abominable,” he said, adding that he’s “been swayed much more” in the past few days due to the letters from Rhimes and Ryan. [Shonda Rhimes ("Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice") and Shawn Ryan ("The Shield," "The Unit") ]

“It’s a tough position because it’s your baby, and you want to protect it,” he said. “But none of us want to be in a position where we’re helping producers get more episodes out of us.”

Horta planned to attend today’s showrunners’ picket and a possible lunch, where he said he’ll be listening to what other hyphenates have to say.

There is much more in the original post.  Did you notice that they just finished work on the 13th episode?  Number 7 will air tomorrow – there will be a few more before the slow holiday season.  So, it looks like Ugly Betty will continue on the air through early next year, unless ABC decides to hold onto them.
