(The other being Christopher Gorham, who played Betty’s other love interest, Henry).  Both have gone on to other successes, so each star’s fans can certainly be proud.

Most recently, Freddy was in the movie Nothing Like The Holidays (which he also executive-produced).  He was also in the highly-acclaimed movie Bottle Shock, and his IMDB page lists him as “rumored” in a thriller film called “Identity”.

Of course, the door has never been closed for Rodriguez to make more appearances on Ugly Betty.  On the show, Gio had kinda-sorta made his peace with Betty’s “breaking his heart” (and causing him to lose his prized cheese).  As things stand, he could easily return.

Unfortunately, there was no Ugly Betty talk.  They share a little small talk (including a great story about his friend “Sparky”), then have a fascinating discussion about Freddy attempting to have “the talk” with his teenaged son.  This is the best, funniest part of the interview.

Then they show a clip from the film, one that I haven’t seen before where the brothers are playing baseball in the snow.  It’s a great “guy” scene.

When they come back from break, Freddy sticks around to watch a guy fail miserably trying to fly a jet pack.

At the taping was a Getty Girl, Foxy.  She got up close and personal with Mr Rodriguez, as you can see here:

Just as Miss T said about her encounter, Foxy says that Rodriguez was a very nice guy who seems to genuinely care about his fans.

If this keeps up, I’m going to have to hire the Getty Girls as FR stringers.

When Regis asks Freddy about Ugly Betty, he quotes Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta, who told him, “You didn’t die!”

What’s really neat is that this question was asked at the behest of one of the Getty Girls (for those of you who don’t know, this group is probably the most, uh, enthusiastic group of fans I’ve ever seen).  Getty Girl “Lady T” was actually there, and asked Regis, before the show started, to ask Rodriguez about Ugly Betty.

Miss T later got to meet Freddy, who was humble and laid back.  She, wearing a Team Getty T-Shirt, asked him if he knew about the Getty Girls , and he chuckled and said yes.

One thing about Freddy Rodriguez, he really, genuinely seems like a nice, approachable guy.  Congrats to Lady T, and here’s hoping Nothing Like The Holidays is a big hit!

I love the facial hair – I’ve always wanted to grow one of those.

Freddy has obviously kept himself busy since he pretty much disappeared from Ugly Betty. I’ve seen the trailer for Nothing Like The Holidays, and I really would like to see it. Not only am I a big Freddy fan, the movie just looks like my kind of film:

I hope it’s a hit; this could launch Freddy to bigger things. But I still want him to appear on Ugly Betty when he can.

Freddy Rodriguez has a few things going on besides Ugly Betty.  For instance, his latest project: Rodriguez will be starring in the horror thriller “Fortuna”.  Also starring in the film will be Dominic Monaghan (Lost). 

Set in 2100, “Fortuna” envisions an Earth where a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty. To give hope and avoid revolt, the elite create Fortuna, a mysterious game where one in a thousand wins a big payday and joins the upper classes. But their hidden goal to “reduce poverty” by 30% over 50 years comes with a deadly price tag.

Monaghan, Rodriguez and “Fortuna” writer-director Barthelemy Grossmann will play desperate men who play the game in a nearby tower, despite apprehensions that none of its contestants are ever seen again.

They are filming in Sofia, Bulgaria starting November 10.  The sets are apparently very dreary, in a “Soylent Green” kind of way.  Although, the plat sort of reminds me of “The Running Man”.

Although I don’t usually go for this kind of movie, the plot intrigues me, and Freddy has really grown on me.  No doubt, I’ll go see this, if I get the chance.

Everybody seems upset in the photos. If I HAD to guess, I’d say that Daniel Jr ran away and ended up at Coney Island. I only say that because I recognize the look on Eric Mabius‘ face (as a dad myself). He’s trying to coax little Daniel back to him.

We still have America Ferrera as “a little more stylish Betty”. For all the clashing, her look is still quite pleasing to the eye.

But, here’s something interesting. Unless my eyes deceive me, that’s Freddy Rodriguez in the background of some of the pics. Considering the fact that this is most likely episode 3.04 – it would appear that Rodriguez is going to be around for more than just the season premiere. Please tell me I’m not an idiot. That is FR, right?

Here are photos of Rodriguez and the rest of the cast at a New York screening of the film at the Cinema II Theater.

Let’s talk facial hair. Some men can pull it off, some men can’t. Mr Rodriguez most certainly can.

There is talk that Freddy might be around for more than a few Ugly Betty episodes this year. I know quite a few folks that would be very happy with that prospect.

As for the film, I’ve seen quite a few good reviews of it, the strangest of which was from right-wing columnist Debbie Schlussel. She gave the film “Four Reagans”. In the same post, she gave The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, America Ferrera’s new film, “Three Marxes”. I don’t comment on this stuff, I just report it.

Also, you’ll see my favorite bad guy of all time, Alan Rickman in the pics. Then did he become, well, “grandfatherly”?

Anyway back to the ever-popular Mr. Rodriguez.

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard the news that Christopher Gorham has signed on to star in CBS’ midseason drama “Harper’s Island. (What is is with CBS taking the stars of Ugly Betty when they leave the show?).

This was reported at the Hollywood Reporter.  The two trade magazines, Variety and Hollywood Reporter, are impeccable sources.  If HR says it, I have to believe it’s true.

(As a side note, HR, a spoiler of this magnitude needs to be hidden behind a jump!  Yeah, you have a “spoiler alert”, but at that point, it’s hard to stop reading).

What was VERY surprising in the article is that there was a blurb about Freddy Rodriguez, saying he “is not expected to come back for more than one episode”.

I really, really didn’t expect that.

They’re going to have to have a heck of a season premiere to explain this one.  Both exits are abrupt, especially Rodriguez (the plot of the show, and the producers had been dropping hints about Henry’s exit for a while).

I would imagine that Gio will stay in Italy, Henry in Tucson.  I was kind of hoping one, or both of them could be guest characters, dropping in from time to time to add extra tension.  Apparently, Silvio Horta did not agree, and decided that Betty Suarez needed a clean break.

I kind of thought this might happen, but I’m still surprised and a little disappointed.  Let’s hope Val Emmich can create enough heat to fill the void.

I have long been looking to add a site to my blogroll for ‘Getty’ fans (fans of Ugly Betty, particularly of the budding – we think – relationship between the characters Betty and Gio).  I already link to sites for the two other ’ships’:

• Instant Connection – all about the Henry (Chris Gorham)and Betty (Benry) romance.
• The Bachelor and The Butterfly – all about the friendship (and maybe more) between Daniel (Eric Mabius)and Betty (Detty).

I try to link to, visit, and comment at as many Ugly Betty sites as possible.  I’ll definitely be visiting this one.  I-C and B&B are first class sites, and I have no doubt this one will be also.

Freddy doesn’t seem to be the black tie type, I don’t think.

He was at the SIFF screening of Bottle Shock held at Paul Allen’s Cinerama theatre. SIFF is the Seattle International Film Festival.

Based on a true story, Bottle Shock is a cinematic love letter to California’s wine country. The film chronicles the events leading up to the famous Paris Tastings of 1976.

The story is told through the lives of a father and son struggling to create the perfect chardonnay at Chateau Montelena, and a British expatriate wine shop owner living in Paris. A twist of fate along a dusty road brings the floundering vintners and the struggling shop owner together changing both their lives-and the wine industry-forever.

Rodriguez starred in the film with Bill Pullman – two of my favorite actors!
