Chris Gorham Hanging Out on UB Set: Uh-oh?

Speculation has begun to run rampant since Chris Gorham posted this on Twitter yesterday:

Needless to say, Chris Gorham on the Ugly Betty set raised a lot of eyebrows, since many assume that if Ugly Betty gets cancelled and has its season finale THIS season, characters from seasons past would show up – something that often happens in series finales.
Chris posted a clarification:

Alas, Ugly Betty fans are a little on edge right now, with the horrible season 4 ratings and all, and we worry that Gorham’s appearance might mean a little more than just a friendly visit.
EOnline’s Kristin picked this up and ran with it. She says, “Inside sources tell me that ABC has been working on ways to try to save Ugly Betty (including the possibility of moving it to Wednesdays, as previously reported); however, if ratings don’t improve by mid spring, it’s possible that Betty will be canceled in May.”
(I think it’s safe to say that if the ratings don’t improve, Betty WILL be canceled).
A Betty insider says to Kristin: "The writers have accepted that this season may be the last and are brainstorming endings now, just in case. The big question is: Who will Betty end up with? The writers room is deeply divided."
Hoo boy. If this does come about, and I pray it doesn’t, we get to go through the ship wars again. Those season 2 days were crazy, but in a way they were fun, too.
And to you Gio fans, he is in the writers’ discussion, according to Kristin.
I hope we don’t have to worry about these things till next season, but Betty cannot survive on Fridays, critical buzz or not. It’s all going to come down to whether or not Ugly Betty gets moved to another day/time.
I haven’t given up hope yet, but at the same time, I’m preparing for the possibility that this season is the last.

I just want to complain that the demise of UB began with the WRITERS STRIKE! ARGH! Who can survive months of delay and choppy storylines! GRRR. And now they complain about low viewings on a Friday nite, well, duh!
If ABC dumps it, maybe we should petition DIRECTV to pick it up! They did with a couple of shows like Friday Night Lights (and some other that I don’t remember).
UB really needs at least another season to wrap up. No matter who she ends up with (if this were the last season), it’ll seem rushed. Go straight back to Matt now would just be too boring, and may not have enough time for gio/henry to return & rekindle, or new romantic sparks with daniel. Nothing works right if rushed! [pillow over head, and SCREAM!]
Okay i only have really one concern about the cancellation, IF UB was to get cancelled what on earth would ABC replace it with I mean really they wont put any of thier other shows on friday nights!!!! Plus they said that ABC really liked one of the episodes they are shooting now and UB is headed toward syndication meaning they will be getting lots of money! So i dont think it will be cancelled midseason they would have done so by now but i do believe this is Ugly Bettys last season and its been a good ride i would like to see it end wonderfully, meaning all 22 planned episodes
*sigh* The Powers That Be are, once again, confusing me. Why are they expecting UB’s ratings to magically rise from the dead on the night it’s currently on? No matter how critic-and-viewer acclaimed a show is, no matter how much originality and creativity has, the fact remains that nobody’s home on Friday nights. Nobody. Heck, if they’d debuted the show in that timeslot, it would’ve died quickly. So if the ABC honchos are serious about giving Betty a boost, they need to move it and move it now. Otherwise, they’re just tossing crap out there for us to chew on and make us believe they still want the show on their roster, when really they just don’t want us coming after them with torches and pitchforks.
TBH, after the steaming pile that was Season 3, the writers really have no one but themselves to blame that the ratings went down the toilet. Last season was a hot, smelly, often-nonsensical mess, so if this season were still reflecting that same quality (or lack thereof) I’d say let ‘er go. But what breaks my heart is that the show is finally GOOD again on a night no one is watching. *sigh* To be frank, I never saw UB going beyond five seasons, even in its Season One heyday. Five has always seemed like a reasonable number for a show of this nature. Honestly, how many times can Wili try to take over the company? How many times will Daniel fall in an ill-fated love? How long before Betty’s fish-out-of-water dilemmas start becoming stale instead of endearing? Yep, five seems right to me. What ABC needs to do is stick to the plan and give it 10 pm Wednesday slot. The ratings still won’t be phenomenal, but at least they could say they tried, and it would fit in nicely with the comedy block. “Lost” is in its last season anyway, so viewers will likely follow it anywhere.
HOLY FREAKING CR*P. I had a dream just a few days ago that Henry came back to UB… and then he got his own spin-off show. Hopefully the second part will never become a reality… not that I don’t love Henry, but that show would crash faster than a plane flown by a 4 year old.

*jaw drop* i would do anything for him to come back! im sad that plans to end the show are being discussed. Im actually liking this season a bit better than last so it sucks that it might be coming to it’s end.
nothing would make me happier than to have Henry come back for a couple eps. Don’t want to see the show end BUT, if it does and they want her to be with someone…Henry is the man. Nobody is working for her since him, he is the true love (unfortunately the writers screwed up).
I’m going to really pissed off if they cancel UB. First of all, they moved it to a horrible time and when they have an opportunity to move it to a much better time, they deciede to give it to Lost, which is already on later that night. And they keep messing up with the schedule by postponing the preimere and playing movies during that time slot. I don’t think UB deserves it. =(
And i hope the writers don’t get desperate and bring Henry back. He already screwed up Betty’s relationship and his storyline is over with already.
For now, Im just hoping for Betty to get more episodes ordered than the inital 13. I’m pretty sure they are filming episde 12 right now so 13, 14, 15 or so must have been written by now. Hopefully ABC is going to let these all air. I thought season 3 was great until they introduced Matt haha. I like him actually, he’s grown on me but I think if they would have not had any romance with Betty in season 3, it would have been better. We spent ALL of season 2 with romance..I didnt want any for season 3. Thank goodness Betty hasnt really been in a relationship thus far in season 4.
I PREY that ABC grows a pair and decided to move the show to Wednesdays. It should help.
Oh, and Andrea..I hope the writers dont do the same thing as well and bring Henry back..that would be a mistake but Im worried they might because Chris Gorham is one of their favorite past-stars on the show. I really hope the writers DONT give us a series finale that’s all “who should Betty pick? Matt, Henry, Gio or Daniel?” I will kill myself if they decide to do that.
Its too soon to end it now they should give it at least 1 or 2 years to give it a proper end. I do not want Betty with Gio or Henry their stories are played out I want her with Daniel at the end. I want them to stay true to the previous versions of it thats why it was a success in 80 countries like the saying goes dont fix it if its not broken.
If the writers go that route they should stick to the present & not go back to old boyfriends. I don’t think Betty will end up with Matt, but who knows since all the other versions of Betty have her ending up with their version of Daniel. And the American version hasn’t followed the other versions so far.. It’s funny that Chris twittered about visiting the UB set & all of this comes about & he kept reiterating that he was “just visiting”…
LOL. Oh, wow. The supposed ’source’ at ABC who decided to spill this to Kristin is a friggin’ genius. I’m sure they knew that once the news gets out to ole’ Gio and Henry fans, they’d tune back in to Ugly Betty just to get a chance of having their guy back on the show. And that’ll bring back a surge in ratings! Smart move. But then all along, TPTB really have someone else planned for Betty. Tee-hee. =D
To all Gio and Henry fans: Get your hopes up and believe the good news! That way, you can tune in and help save Ugly Betty. You know you can’t resist. And you won’t. LMAO.
Crap, something tells me, this is gonna be UB’s last season…
There is the chance that the Kristin article was planted to try to improve the ratings. However, I think the UB staff would be a wise to have an ending planned which would tie things up somewhat if this is the end of the show, but would let the story continue if it were allowed. It’s value in syndication is less if it is just sort of left hanging, or even worse, ends this season with a cliffhanger which is never addressed. As much as I don’t want to see the show end, ABC seems to have given up on it after the very disappoining last season and, without good ratings, they won’t keep it on.
I have been waiting for an update like this for a while now!
Now as much as I am dreading the day they say that UB is cancelled *tear*, the extremes they will do to try to keep it going, I am willing to see (even bringing back past love intrests).
I will say this until it changes otherwise (and even if it does, I will swear by it): Henry’s sudden appearence and dissapearence in the S3 finale is not the last we will see of our Sugarstick. It was very open ended and was like that for a reason.
If it comes to the end and Betty had to choose, I will still have to stand by Accountant Man. Season 2 was magic and the biggest reason was because of the HUGE AMOUNTS of Nerd Love that was there. Yes, the shipping wars was madness, but I still go back and watch certain episodes because the amount of love bewteen Betty and Henry are just amazing.
I really hope they do bring back people for the Last Hurrah and that in the end, Betty can follow her heart. She said it herself, she will always be a little bit in love iwth him, but I know, you know, she knows that it’s more than that. She was gonna be married to the man (maybe)!

I also think this is just a way to cause commotion in the fans who most are lost or disappointed.
And I have said in so many places the many reasons why Freddy Rodriguez ’s Gio Rossi is the best posible suitor to end up with Betty (plot-wise and for ratings).
If anything I am glad Matt isn’t even being considered at all. But still… why are they still playing him on the show?
Honestly, as much as I didn’t like Gio (no flaming please) I think it IS time he comes back, even for a short episode arc. Though I don’t like him any more than Jesse (and Henry is Betty’s real man), I’m pretty positive it would attract old viewers who gave up because of season 2 finale, and perhaps they would see how great this season is. I really hope they consider Gio as a chance to improve ratings, it would probably work.
I doubt that 2 – 4 million more viewers will come back and watch the show just to see Gio or Henry again. In the first place, their departures did NOT stop ALL of those people from watching. Frankly, I think it’s hilarious that some people think that’s enough to save the show.
That not fair for if get Ugly Betty cancelled without good rating. I don’t understand why they want cancelled this show,I thought that good and popular show. I want Gio come back on Ugly Betty,because Gio is better and he good for Betty mostly than Matt.Gio is so funny on Season 2. I hate if ABC might get Ugly Betty cancelled.I want Ugly Betty stay on and hope should move on Wednesday night,please.
No Betty can’t leave! Season 4 is so good and it has so much potential! Has anyone thought of making a petition to change Betty’s broadcasting time? With all the forums there are on UB,I think it could work! Especially if we point out the reasons why it would be better..
I appreciate that ABC is supposedly trying to think of ways to save “Ugly Betty”, but they shouldn’t have put the series in danger in the first place. UB was the first, and possibly only, series to hold its own against the CBS juggernaut, “Survivor”. Considering the ratings “Survivor” was pulling in when UB premiered in 2006, it would seem that ABC was trying to doom UB from the very start, but our Betty not only survived that first season, she held her own in a time slot that had meant cancellation for just about every show that was cursed with it. The ratings for UB may not have been stellar, but it has always been a pretty reliable performer in the numbers game.
Well Angie, as I’m sure that all people didn’t quit watching because of Gio, I know many did. I was just saying it would sure help improve, it definitely wouldn’t hurt. Frankly, I think it’s hilarious that some people don’t think others are entitled to an opinion.
As much as I would LOVE for Gio to return, I remain skeptical. I have doubts he’ll make an appearance, and i have doubts Henry will. I also would be surprised if a Betty and Daniel ending never happens.
To me, this is nothing but a ploy to attract what I’m now starting to think is the backbone of this show: The shippers. The Matt and Betty shippers are a small group, that’s why Matt wasn’t included in this article. But the Detty ship is large, and everyone remembers the great Benry and Getty war (LOL). Perhaps they think that by attracting these three groups, by getting the Benry and Gettys that have abandoned the show back, and bringing new hope to the Detties, it will boost ratings.
I still watch this show (when I can catch it on a Friday), but it’s too hard for me to get excited about a Gio return.
No one said you’re not entitled to an opinion, Timmeh. Of course you may believe what you want. I happen to believe that neither Gio nor Henry will make much of a difference whatsoever. The whole notion seems hilarious. With all due respect, that happens to be MY opinion, not a specific condemnation of yours. So, don’t take it personally.
