Ugly Betty Episode 4.04 Quick Thoughts

Here are some quick thoughts about Ugly Betty, episode 4.04, The Wiener, The Bun, and The Boob.
- I LOVE Betty’s new attitude. I wasn’t sure if I would, but it’s not annoying or abrasive, it seems to fit her new situation.
- Marc’s face when he learned he would be Betty’s assistant was hilarious. So was Betty’s. At the same time, Wilhelmina’s expression when she thought Marc was going to get info out of Nico was priceless.
- Wilhelmina kissing Claire and Cal’s butt was very funny. Uncomfortable, but funny.
- Brooklyn Decker was used perfectly. Beautiful, but totally hideous. Man, that is one tall woman!
- I can’t believe they told Betty and Marc that the associate editor’s position was settled by a coin flip! And Marc calling her “tails” was pretty funny.
- I TOLD you who/what the “boob” would be!!!! HA!
- I wish they could have spent more time on Hilda’s sexting episode. Archie’s original reaction was the funniest his character has been so far.
- Of course, Marc and Betty as hot dog and bun were sublime. The comedy quickly turned to drama, and that was pretty good, too.
- Matt kissing Amanda morphing into Betty kissing Amanda morphing into Betty as a hot dog and Amanda screaming was the funniest thing on the show this season! Isn’t it amazing how Becki Newton can be so funny in so little screen time?
- Marc and Betty’s relationship has to be one of the strangest on TV. But, they are wonderful onscreen together.
- The ending was nice – they really know how to do endings on this show.
OK, one quibble. Brian Tanen, one of Ugly Betty’s most talented writers, tried to fit too much into this episode, IMHO. There were five major concurrent story lines. It’s usually tough to fit in three. But then again, many times in the past when I’ve thought an episode was too “busy”, it turns out to be one of the most popular, so what do I know?
But otherwise, it was a good episode. The second half was the funniest on the show in a long time.

the hot dog scene had be ROOLLLING. I thought it was going to be extremely cheesy but it was pulled of so well. I was laughing out loud for sure!
Tom i agree i my friend and i laughed out loud sooooo many times everyone got alot of got laughs from me! Especially Marc, Betty, Amanda , and Willie. Marc and Betty were wonderful with the back and forth stuff the hot dog and bun is the greatest thing ive seen on ub in a while tied Amanda and her kissing Matt/Betty the screaming hahahaha it was great and Wilhelmina and her oneliners were on point tonight i liked Nico better this episode too!
I think it was GREATTTTTTTTTTTTT episode. It was better than last week and brighter than ever =) =) =)
I love this show!
I thought this episode was hilarious!! When they did the whole bit of the hotdog dance I was literally laughing outloud! It was so funny!! And the seeing Matt & Baett talk to each other now gives me hope that that just might get back together. But I like it when Amanda flirted with Matt and Marc just had to say, “Oh, you love him!” and not mention her imagination! It was funny!
I agree with everything except….I thought the first half was better!! I like the whole hot dog thing but I wasnt laughing. I was just smiling. They should have done the hot dog thing last season when betty looked more ridicuous.
But over, GREATTTT episode. I loved the ending..so sweet!
I loved this episode. It was amazing. It was better than last week I can agree with you Anna.I was cracking up and I just loved it. I loved Hildas part, is was soo funny. I really loved this eposode and I wish I could see it again. Wow! I loved it!
haha! I LOVED this episode. It was by far one of the funniest episodes of Betty in an EXTREMELY long time. It seemed that every other sentence made me laugh. Lol.
It was an AMAZING episode, and I thought everything was perfect, and I liked the subtlety of Halloween, since they didn’t do any Holiday themed episodes last year, unlike season 1. I think Brian is one of the best writers and needs to write more often. I really hope this season stays THIS good!
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Tho I did think that there was one too many storylines. Yes… they do know how to do endings. Betty and Marc’s was great, SWEET.
And I LOVED the Hilda/Archie storyline – funny how she went about it and how he became paniced! And the last their last scene was AWESOME (they do endings well.) What a stand up guy Archie is – it made me SMILE big time… was glad to see that chemistry back between them!

Loved all the Detty scenes.Last episode was disappointing .I think that didn’t help this week’s ratings.Still 4.55 m,same as last week.I think us die hard fans need to accept this is going to be the last season.:(
the best episode of season 4 at the moment i have seen compared to the last couple of episodes, of which were very poor by the show’s standards.
i was looking forward to this one and alas, it didn’t dissapoint and delivered the goods.
silvio needs to let brian tanen write more episodes for this show.
Shaz10, The show didnt improve but it didnt get worse at least. It’s probably it’s last season unless ABC decides to move Betty to a new timeslot other than Fridays because it totally can do better, as we all know from Thursdays.
Oh and I love Brian Tanen…he has always written fabulous episodes!
I love this episode. My favorite part of Betty and Marc wear hot dog customer during dancing and sing front of meeting at Mode and make me laugh so hard.
I watched the whole Amanda kissing Matt scene again and it still makes me laugh! Not to mention the scene too when Betty and Marc danced as a hotdog. That will always make me laugh out loud! It’s just too good. “Eat me I’m a hotdog.. and I’m a whole wheat bun!”
Greatest episode so far for this fourth season! I loved EVERYTHING, every character had funny scenes, and the ending was really sweet. I laughed outloud during the whole Marc-Betty hot dog storyline! And the two of them dancing in front of Willie was just PRICELESS!
I hope more episodes in this season will be written by B Tanen, ’cause he’s great! Can’t wait to see next week episode
i agree–for sure the best episode of the season and probably in the top 10 (or 20–i’ve loved a lot of episodes) of the series. i love it when there are more stories going on at once…it keeps things interesting, fresh, and funny. quite frankly, i was annoyed with last week’s. i think there were only three storylines and they really got dragged into the mud. daniel’s pooltime with what’s-her-face was just boring, and the matt-betty restaurant thing was overdone.
I have to agree, Blue-On-Blue went on too much that it was overdone. At first with the whole “date” thing was interesting but they didn’t have to push it too far. But Matt revealing himself was good. Thank god for the 4th episode! It saved it a lot and it has to be 1 of my favorites too.
I haven’t laughed out loud in weeks but Amanda’s little daydream (and the consequences) made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt
My big sister, who doesn’t watch UB cracked up as well. Every storyline in this episode kept me intrigued. Willie trying to be nice was hilariously awkward. I also really like the new Nico, which is a bit surprising since I’m not too fond of the actress. The ending was great and had me smiling ear to ear. IMHO, UB has the best endings, no other show can compare. All in all, this episode was very good, much better than “Blue on Blue”. I hope season four stays this good.
