America Ferrera Ugly Betty On-Set Pics

Here are some photos of America Ferrera filming scenes for Ugly Betty in Lower Manhattan.
Two things stand out: Betty looks more stylish than ever, and she seems kind of flummoxed.
I like the pink empire-waisted thing (is that considered a coat? a sweater? Forgive me, I’m showing my fashion ignorance. To me, a coat should have buttons. 
) The hat is a nice touch, as well. The only “Betty-fied” part of her outfit is the purse, which really stands out.
Betty seems upset about something – but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of that this season (Being an editor is WAR! – as Wilhelmina told Betty). Amongst all the scheming by everyone she’s surrounded by, it’s no wonder.
What Betty needs to do is what America is doing here…exhale.

My grandpa Angel told me that he saw Betty shooting by his job in Manhatten. I am soo excited.

She looks so cute here.
I love Betty’s new look. She was never really “ugly”, but the word fits her even less now, more than ever, yet she is still very much herself. It isn’t such a drastic change that she looks as if she has transformed into someone else. Some of last season’s outfits were really clownish, but since the show has always had an over-the-top sensibility, it didn’t really bother me as much as it would have on other shows. Perhaps we needed Betty to look really extreme last season, though, in order to enhance the sense of change that they’ve implemented this season. Her first and second season clothes were perhaps a little too subtle (not that there was much that was subtle about them) to deliver the impact of her fourth season improvements.
that bag is a statement bag! The “betty-fied” part is really that bag doesn’t go with her outfit. That “sweater/coat” thingy is very youthful (like pre-teen!) and urban-ish, and that bag screams super sophisticated chic. I think if she takes off that “coat”, the solid blue dress & scarf with the bag would be just perfect!
