Christopher Gorham To Star In Indie Film

August 10, 2009 by Tom

spl27635_022 Christopher Gorham, known best as the nerdy accountant Henry on Ugly Betty, has been signed to star in the indie film “Trivial Pursuits”.

Starring with Gorham are Arielle Kebbel and Chris Parnell.  The film is being directed by Christopher Farah. His brother Mike Farah is producing.

Trivial Pursuits is Set in the world of competitive bar trivia (who knew there was a world of competitive bar trivia?)   The script centers on frustrated academics who finally get a chance at beer, women and nerdy redemption when they enter a citywide trivia tournament. Gorham and Kebbel are the love interests.

This is going to be right up Gorham’s alley.   He seems to really excel at playing the “smart guy” who seems to have something wilder or even more dangerous underneath.  And it’s great to seem him in a role with a romance again.

Also appearing in the movie are Kip Pardue ("Remember the Titans"), Evan Jones ("Jarhead"), Nelson Franklin ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World") and Kali Hawk ("Couples Retreat").

The movie just began shooting in Ann Arbor, Mich. (they have a little college there, don’t they? :) ), of which the Farahs are natives. Christopher is a former editor at "Foreign Affairs" magazine who left journalism for filmmaking, while Mike heads production for comedy Web site Funny or Die.

Gorham is going to be busy, not only working on Pursuits, but also USA Network’s spy thriller "Covert Affairs."

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the title will be changed, unless they worked out some kind of deal with the Trivial Pursuit people. It reminds me of when the movie “Drop Dead Gorgeous” was being made, it was originally going to be titled “Dairy Queens”, because it was about beauty pageant contestants in Wisconsin, hence the “dairy” and the “queens” references. Dairy Queen threatened a lawsuit, and before you could say “frivolous lawsuit”, the title was changed.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand… I am glad Chris Gorham is still doing well in his career.

I loved Henry on the show and I wish him the best of luck!
I know that this is completely irrelevant, but did everyone know that the time for UB had changed?! It’s on Fridays at 9pm. I heard it from Vanessa Williams on Millionaire! Lol…she was on. Did anyone else see it?

to hannah- yes i did read a few months ago that in the US ugly betty would return to friday nights, with the fourth season commencing on october of this year.

btw, i read this on twitter as i subscribe to chris’s tweets and i am for one so happy for him. it’s great that has been keeping himself occupied since exiting UB, what with harper’s island for example. he’s a great performer and no doubt his acting career will prolong even further.

Hannah, I can’t speak for everyone here, because I’m sure there are still some people who haven’t read this bit of news yet, but most of us here have known about the move to Fridays for a while, ever since ABC first announced the change back in the middle of May. Many of us were concerned at first, because Friday seems to be the Elephants’ Graveyard where networks send shows to die, but there have been plenty of success stories on Fridays over the years, so we’ve been trying to be hopeful and optimistic.

Wow am I late! Lol…I read this blog faithfully and read UB news and no where did I see this! I’m not sure what this spot holds for UB but let’s hope it does ok…I know that I will still be tuning in weekly.
    Thanks!

More projects! Yay! I really wish Gorham keeps rising. He did AMAZINGLY in Harper’s Island (if you haven’t seen it you must get hands on the DVD… it’s a most have for Chris followers. Heck is great even if you don’t even like Gorham… cause he is incredible there (the rest of the cast is also terrific).

Okay… where was I? yeah. Great news, Tom. I really hope the best for Gorham.

You must follow him on twitter:

Yesterday, I was in Ann Arbor Michigan just walking around and we saw a HUGE ordeal going on- with Cameras and everything and we went up and talked to one of the people in it, they were filming Trivial Pursiuts and when we asked if any Big Names are in it they said yet- Chris Parnell! It was so exciting! Then walking further down the street we could see vans with props and food trucks and trailers! It was so awesome!
