Siblings having different accents is not as uncommon as you might think. Sometimes one sibling will consciously choose to speak without a regional accent, but sometimes different accents just happen in a family. I have five siblings, and of the six of us there is one sister who says certain words with an accent I cannot explain. We all grew up in the same house, in the same town, in the same state. There is one other sister who sometimes says some words like this particular sister, but none of the rest of us speak that way, ever. None of our neighbors or friends spoke these certain words the way my sister does either.

I also have a friend from Louisiana who has no trace of an accent, nor does his eldest sister, but the other two sisters sound like they just rolled out of a Cajun swamp.
