Freddy Rodriguez Is All Over The Place!
December 11, 2008 by Tom
Freddy Rodriguez has been heavily promoting his new film, “Nothing Like The Holidays”. He briefly mentions Ugly Betty in this interview on Regis and Kelly:
When Regis asks Freddy about Ugly Betty, he quotes Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta, who told him, “You didn’t die!”
What’s really neat is that this question was asked at the behest of one of the Getty Girls (for those of you who don’t know, this group is probably the most, uh, enthusiastic group of fans I’ve ever seen). Getty Girl “Lady T” was actually there, and asked Regis, before the show started, to ask Rodriguez about Ugly Betty.
Miss T later got to meet Freddy, who was humble and laid back. She, wearing a Team Getty T-Shirt, asked him if he knew about the Getty Girls , and he chuckled and said yes.
Here is a pic of LadyT and Freddy:
…and all the other Getty Girls died with envy…
One thing about Freddy Rodriguez, he really, genuinely seems like a nice, approachable guy. Congrats to Lady T, and here’s hoping Nothing Like The Holidays is a big hit!

There is nothing wrong with enthusiam, Tom. And the other Getty Girls didn’t die with envy, we were thrilled for her. The movie looks good, I know I’ll be going to see it this weekend. And I’m glad to know Gio isn’t dead.
Thanks for posting this Tom. This was a great day for the Getty Girls. The beauteous Miss_T showed some hustle and gumption and did everything she could to be there on the spot, to get a great seat, to ask Regis to ask the Ugly Betty question and to represent us all in her lovely Getty Girl shirt. She was rewarded when called up to meet Freddy and he actually gave her a hug. And incidentally, in addition to looking great, Freddy smelled wonderful, she reported. (Don’t they look cute posing together?) Miss_T is a hero and brought us Getties the greatest Christmas gift we could wish for, a quote from Freddy that gives us hope that Gio may yet have a future on the show.
Lucky! He seems so nice! I’d love to meet him. And LOL to Tom’s “enthusiasm” comment!
Btw what’s happening with Chris Gorham (speaking of used-to-be-the-love-of-Betty’s-life actors)’s Harpers Island show? When does it start? Shouldn’t he be doing the media circuit too soon? Or not since CBS isn’t a big channel?
I am so excited. We are out there!!! Freddy knows about us !!!! DOUBLE YAY!!!
Thanks for posting this TOM!! You are so kind. For christmas present I would hug you! Oh yes! Freddy is everywhere. After Bottle Shock, promoting Nothing like the Holidays, in the Gap Christmas adds, in some Amnesty International campaign, in magazines everywhere. LOVE THAT GUY! He is so nice and reachable.
Forgot to add. We know he is not scheduled to be in any episode. I wish Horta makes up his mind and include him eventually in his future plots for Ugly Betty. I would like to see some Gio by the end this season or next season. Probably next season since the film schedule for this one would end in april and Freddy would be filming “Fortuna” in Bulgaria
Way to go Lady T – it is wonderful to hear your story and see your great pic! Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I am a little jealous of you but I wouldn’t look anywhere near as good beside FR as you do.
I’m so glad you let him know how much we love his character Gio!
Thank you Tom for posting.
Well, I don’t know if I died of envy; I might have if I wasn’t one of the enthusiastic Getty Girl crazies who knows most everyone in the group : D Seriously, I think its safe to say we were all a teensy little bit jealous of Lady T, but more happy and excited for her. She did a great job representing us, AND she got a pertinent UB related question asked on air! That’s good for all of us, Getty or not- it gets our fave show more notice! And the fact that the answer was ‘Well, you didn’t die!” gives us something to hope for : )
Way to go Lady T!
Also, because I’m not only a Getty Girl, but a Freddy fan, I’m gonna help promote his new movie too : ) I saw a screening last night (it doesn’t hit theaters until tomorrow), and anyone out there who is a Freddy fan will want to see this one. Its really good, and I too hope its a huge hit for him, his first endeavor at production.
Thank you Tom for posting this and shouting out the Getty Girls!! we are taking over the world!!!!!!
Lady T, you are awesome! I am so excited that you got to meet Freddy.
Aw, he’s so sweet. Also, Did you see America is nominated for a Golden Globe?!?!!? I don’t really think she’s going to win (thanks Tina Fey) but its still amazing!

Freddy really is “all over the place” and one of our very own Getty Girls got to meet him and ask about him coming back to where he belongs – our beloved “Ugly Betty”.
Thanks for the shout-out, Tom, and I really do hope America wins the Golden Globe
Tom, we’ll choose to see “enthusiastic” as a compliment. Hey, it’s gotten more than one of our Getty Girls to see Freddy! And Miss_T even got to hug him!
Congrats, T! We’re so proud of our Getty.
Gio did not dead on Ugly Betty,I miss him on Ugly Betty
.I’m happy see Freddy again.I wish I watch the video but I cant, cuz I’m deaf.
Congrats again, T! Freddy is an amazing actor and a wonderful person, and I’m glad to be a part of a group that supports him so much, whether it be for his role on UB or any of his other projects.
Thanks for posting, Tom
oh god lucky ms t! I’m happy and jealous at the same time lol Thank you so much for representing us Getties I LOVE freddy! and if horta doesn’t bring him back to UB its his lost! Ill follow Freddy on all his future projects. Im definitely going to go see his new movie “Nothing like the holidays”
Thanks Tom
How wonderful for the Getty fans who got to see him in person. I plan to see Nothing Like the Holidays this weekend. Every Getty girl should show their support for Freddy and see his movie this weekend and help make it debut in the top 3.
I am so thrilled for miss_t. She got to see the GUY! Wooo.
Here’s hoping Gio will once again grace our screens in the future.
Hey Tom,
Freddy is on Friday’s issue of the Chicago RedEye. He’s on the front cover! I could scan some if you like.
Emiko, please do!!! i can’t wait to see those.
And oh! coincidence! in another interview today he mentioned he won’t be around in UB (bummer…) but he seems interested (yay!):

CS: Do you have any plans to return to “Ugly Betty”?
Rodriguez: Not at the moment, but as [Sylvio Horta], the creator of the show always says, “You didn’t die!”
CS: Would you like to go back?
Rodriguez: It all depends. It all depends on what the storyline is going to be and what’s going to happen with the characters.
-
The Getty Girls will easily write an interesting storyline to tiggle Freddy Rodriguez into re-entering the show and boost the numbers of viewers. If I’m not totally wrong both Horta and ABC would love to see the numbers take a jump – up…
Agree with you Bee. We have plenty of stories for Gio to develop. If only ABC let us. I wouldn’t care about copyrights… just to bring the man back.
By the way in this other interview:

PW: And as long as I’m gushing, I loved your work on “Ugly Betty” — any chance fans will see more of Gio?
Freddy: Well, I didn’t die, so there’s always a possibility. They just decided to go in another direction, which is fine. I had a blast on that, but there’s always a possibility of him returning. Write a letter! [laughs]
-
Hells yea, I’ll write a letter to Horta. It’s not the first time I’ve done it. Your wish is my command Freddy. hehehe…
