America Ferrera Gets Another Golden Globe Nomination

America Ferrera received a Golden Globe nomination for her work with Ugly Betty! She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Her competition:
- CHRISTINA APPLEGATE – SAMANTHA WHO?
- TINA FEY – 30 ROCK
- DEBRA MESSING – THE STARTER WIFE
- MARY-LOUISE PARKER – WEEDS
Will this be yet another awards show where Tina Fey gets an award for which Ferrera is nominated? I know Fey is the darling of entertainment writers, but it gets kind of annoying after a while for America Ferrera fans. Especially since Ugly Betty gets better ratings (OK, 30 Rock wins the all-important young demos).
Applegate is also very good, and I think deserving. I’ve always loved Debra Messing and Mary-Louise Parker. But none of them will get the Annual Tina Fey Best Actress in a Comedy Series award. OK, enough of my sour grapes.
Ugly Betty did not receive any other nominations (there are no supporting actor or actress nominations for television series).
As I’m sure you’ve heard, the Golden Globes are NOT threatened by a potential Screen Actors Guild strike. The Oscars may not be so lucky, but most experts seem to think that the SAG strike won’t be near as harmful as the WGA strike, if it even happens.
Congratulations to America Ferrera for her nomination! She’ll actually win again, one day!

There is a category for supporting actor and actress in a “A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION”. They just group all the categories for supporting into one lump. Unfortunately there are no female comedy supporting characters nominated like there were for the male category (Neil Patrick Harris totally deserves to win it, imo.).
Hopefully next go around Becki Newton can make it as a nominee–she’s been excellent this season!
very dissapointing that ugly betty didn’t get a nod for best comedy. however, in truth if the panel are going by what they had of season 2, then i suppose it is understandable that the show didn’t get selected as one of the nominees.
congrats to america as ever, but what about michael urie and becki newton? newton especially has impressed me as amanda, as the show has progressed throughout the series

Tina Fey is not funny. Everyone else nominated is funnier than her and I hope that Fey does not win a Golden Globe. She is one of the most overrated comedians I’ve seen this decade. Becki Newton is much funnier and I think she should get a Golden Globe for her work on Ugly Betty someday. Newton is probably the most underrated comedian on television right now. She’s hilarious.
