Ugly Betty Spoiler From Kristin!
December 2, 2008 by Tom
EOnline’s Kristin has a pretty shocking spoiler in her Spoiler Chat column about Ignacio and Betty.
Mel in Temecula, Calif.: How about some Ugly Betty news?
I’m hearing that Betty’s father will suffer a heart attack soon. Fortunately it’s not fatal, but it will prompt Betty to move back home.
Holy cow! That’s huge. I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet.
On the one hand, there is a great opportunity for some real drama, which America Ferrera can handle deftly. Not to mention the fact that Tony Plana would have a major storyline for the first time this season.
But on the other hand, what I don’t like is the idea of Betty moving back home. Although realistic, doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose of Betty’s storyline the first half of season 3?
Yet, on the 3rd hand, all the angst Betty will harbor after tasting freedom and adulthood only to have it snatched away again – that’s good stuff.
I guess that if this comes to be, it means that Ugly Betty will be taking a pretty strong dramatic turn. If so, hopefully Marc and Mandy will have some bigtime comedy scenes to counteract it.
All in all, I think such a move would be a plus for the show. I trust the writers; they’ve shown me that this year they know what they’re doing.

Her storyline had a purpose? I kinda thought they were just seeing how much they could screw with plotlines and characterizations.
I think this is just wat the show needs. And its great that they are using Ignacio’s heart condition. They havent brought it up since season 1, and like Tom said, it will give him his first major storyline this season. But im not so sure about Betty moving back home, maybe she will think she has to, cuz the family has always depended on her so much in the past, but hopefully Hilda will step up to the plate and show she can handle things(?)
Either way, Im looking forward to this storyline, it’s going to bring major drama and hopefully Daniel can be there for Betty, the way she was there for him when his father died.. Only difference is Ignacio isnt dying and thats a major plus! He’s too important to the show and to Betty to let him die.
the storyline involving ignacio is interesting, but i am not keen on betty moving back home because of it. and although she still hasn’t fully matured since she moved out of the suarez house, i thought it was a good idea for betty to get her own apartment.
I hope that “moving back home” just means temporarily… VERY temporarily, like for only one or two episodes. They need to keep Betty in Manhattan, with Amanda as her roomie (at least for a while, so we can get some more hilarious scenes of their domestic life together).
