Mode After Hours: The Seance

Here is the latest installment of Mode After Hours, ABC’s web supplement to Ugly Betty. It’s titled “The Seance”, and it may be be best one yet.

Amanda and Marc hold a seance to contact Fey Sommers, in hopes of finding out the identity of Amanda’s birth father (and to eat pizza).

This one has all kinds of sight gags (the genie hats, the wigs, the handcuffs), along with that hilarious thing the pair do when Newton sings soprano and Urie sings baritone, creating “spooky” music.

Marc still has a wandering eye, it would seem, so Cliff had better watch out.

This one kind of had the feel of that wonderful scene in Wilhelmina’s office from 1.08 (Four Thanksgivings and a Funeral) – which is probably my favorite scene from any episode of Ugly Betty.

These Mode after Hours shorts have me convinced that a spinoff just might work when Ugly Betty’s run is complete.
