Mark Indelicato Lets The Cat Out of The Bag

July 19, 2008 by Tom

Well, well, well. This is interesting.  UBN commenter Brit pointed us to an AP video story about the Ugly Betty block party.  It was pretty interesting on its own – and then near the end, Mark Indelicato revealed a little plot info about Ugly Betty season 3 (don’t watch if you’re adverse to spoilers – albeit small):

I KNEW it!  In fact, not to brag, but I called it at the end of the live blog for episode 2.18, Jump.  That also means that you guys were also right about what Betty had in her hand in the photos this post.

I pray they write every episode well;  a “single girl in the city” show can be funny, enlightening and engaging.  Yet, a sizeable portion of Ugly Betty’s viewers (and subsequently, UBN’s readers) are invested in one of Betty’s romantic relationships.  If they do it right, they could actually bring in more viewers than they lose.  But, they’ll have to walk a fine line.  I’m counting on you, Silvio. :)

BTW, I think the whole block party thing was a brilliant idea.

  1. I’m worried that the writers aren’t going to be up to the task of writing this episode well… Especially seeing how the finale felt so disjointed and uneven.

That being said, if they don’t successfully end the relationships, than this poor guy is going to have a heck of a time fighting his way out of the corner that the promos ABC has chosen to run already have him in.

That is IF he’s a romantic interest. I don’t see how she can “forget about her love life” if she has a NEW romantic interest… Gonna be interesting to see how that plays out.

    well im worried.
I think its great that she is being independant but the fact that shes moving sucks. I LOVED the Suarez house dynamics. Hopefully, Kimberly moves in with Betty, it turns into a mess, and Betty moves back home.

I think by the end of last season, i was sick of bettys love life so im excited to hear mark say it will take a back seat.

I’m actually really excited to see Betty move to a new place. I know a lot of people are annoyed about it–and don’t get me wrong, I love the Suarez dynamic–but the girl’s 24 years old and has never left home. It’s time for her to start growing up.

And I’m not overly concerned that Betty’s going to drop her love life for a while. I think it makes total sense; Henry was clearly on his way out already, and Getty never really got off the ground. The ships are fun and all, but personally my favorite plotlines have always been the ones revolving around the work environment and all the crazy characters and intrigue involved. Bring on the workplace drama!

betty should move in with cliff!! i’ve been saying for a while that the two of them, betty and cliff, would make great friends,so the two of them should get a place together and be freinds!

i am actually glad this whole betty/henry/gio theme has run its course because it did drag on too long. if anything, i was more interested in the other storylines involving marc and amanda, and daniel and the meades verses wilhelmina.

hope we see more of the supporting characters this season, and not just betty, gio and betty’s new squeeze. i am particularly looking forward to the return of cliff, marc’s boyfriend

Well, I’ve got nothing against letting Betty take care of her career for a while. They could just have done a little less leading on in the post strike episodes. At least, It would have been easier to see Gio leave.
Now that they have chosen this path for S3, I’ll just be satisfied with what I got, but I’ll still cross my fingers and hope for the best.

However, it would be really idiotic to get her involved with a new guy from the very start of the season. Mid season would be about the right time if it has to be done.
