Ugly Betty Guest Stars We Love: Gene Simmons
Character on Ugly Betty: Himself, or at least a caricature of himself. Amanda’s “Daaaaady!!!! for a while.
Main Characteristic: He’s an arrogant, grasping old rock-star, who takes advantage of a needy young woman.
Most Famous For: A 30+ year stint as bass player/singer with the rock band KISS. They are an important part of late 20th century pop culture (I was a member of the KISS Army myself). Lately, he’s been a publicity hound, with a self-parodying reality show, Gene Simmons: Family Jewels. He’s also been an actor all these years, starting in 1984 with the Tom Selleck movie Runaway.
Ugly Betty Episodes: 2.13 - A Thousand Words By Friday, 2.17 - The Kids Are Alright.
Best Moment: In episode 2.13, when he admits “I Google myself every morning”.
