Ugly Betty Episode 2.17 Live Blog
May 15, 2008 by Tom
Come join us for our weekly gathering of Ugly Betty fanatics, in our live blog of Episode 2.17 – “The Kids Are Alright”. The synopsis:
Betty, still missing Henry, fights her attraction to Gio, but later finds herself stuck with him when both volunteer to chaperone Justin’s middle school dance. Meanwhile, Hilda tries to get Coach Diaz (guest star Eddie Cibrian) to notice her; Amanda agrees to do a reality show with her dad, KISS rock legend Gene Simmons; and Daniel feels the heat when Wilhelmina makes her triumphant return to Mode amid a media frenzy.
Not only do we have the return of Gene Simmons, but we get to see “Little” Daniel, Gio, Betty and Amanda, and coach Diaz is back. Not to mention the over-the-top return of Wilhelmina and Marc.
I can’t wait – I’ll be firing up the live blog right before 8pm EDT. I’ll put a transcript after the jump when we’re done!

I’m sharing my special ode to Getty!
The plinks plinks got a plinking
And we’re glad to say:
Let’s put on a show!
We’re ready for Getty
Be it slow or alla gritti
Eating tacos or spaghetti
We’re so ready, for Getty!
er. replace alla gritti with allegretto/allegretti?
Bring back Little Betty. She’s the cutest addition to the show yet
this was such a fantastic episode. plenty of heart. looking forward to another Getty kiss in JUMP! He’s the guy!
That was a good show. Gio’s little sister was funny. The young Betty character was a good idea. They should have more episodes with her.
haha next week’s episode is going to be AMAZING!
but, they (as in Alexis and the writers) can’t get rid of Daniel because he is, after all, one of the major characters in the story/plot! It would totally crumble without him!
–
anyways, my prediction for the upcoming episode would be that first Betty will choose Henry over Gio (unfortunately, and to my personal dismay) or just not give an answer which would probably make Gio leave in a “huff” and give Henry some time to do whatever he wants
Gio (Freddy R) is a recurring character too, unlike Henry (Christopher G) who is still a regular, I think. Sorry Getty Fans!
And is for Daniel and the other Meades, both Daniel and Claire aren’t/can’t go anywhere because they are both series regulars, but as for Alexis, I think the writers moved her into the “recurring character” section. This might shed some light for the next season where since Alexis has been shifted out of the limelight for the time being, Daniel and Claire might be able to (move?) the “head honcho” of Meade publications? I don’t know, im just keeping my hopes up, but I’ll really miss Alexis if she gets written out.
…but there is another problem, the kid that shows up is, I believe, Daniel’s. This is inevitably throw a huge curve ball in the plot line. Will Daniel go another trip to “Rio” (with or without the kid, probably without) and have Betty save the day again while Willie and Marc (and the kid?) are doing their best to destroy all the Meade’s already fragile family connection?
-This would certainly play into the concept Mr. Horta and the other writers are trying to get at, were they want to show the viewers a “Betty” perspective…

Well, all in all, these are just merely predictions. (which are probably wrong)
And WOW, this was a lost post! I wonder if there is a character limit..hahaha
that was a really good episode…prob one of my favorites from this season so far!!
3 words- OH MY GOD!!
Does anyone know the song at the very end of the episode as Gio is saying “I don’t want to be the rebound guy… I want to be THE guy…”??? It is beautiful!
Its called “I’m in Love with a Friend” by Deep Dish…. great song!
Great episode! Can’t wait to see what happens! I think the shows are def getting back to the heart

The song at the beginning of the dance is called “Forever” by Walter Meego.
