Here's another thought. I thought it was mentioned by AF that they were going to try to get a quick start on filming season 3 in mid-June 2008 so that they would have a few episodes in the can in case of a SAG strike. Are they going to be on track to do that in such a short time with the move to NYC?

"Cities and states are played against each other to extract the absolute highest perks for producers/owners. And cities can complain all they want, but the hard, cold truth is that if localities don’t play the game, another city or state will."
-----------------------

That's true. Look at NYC. From what I heard, they had lost a lot of film productions to Connecticut, so I think that was one of the things that scared the state into doing something.

I can only hope that California will do the same, because really - the job loss issue sounds more important than anything else here.

And I have to wonder...did ABC even hint in advance that they they were considering this move? Because to me, it seems pretty mean to be pulling the rug right out from under everyone without any warning.

(And no, despite all the arguments about "capturing authenticity", I still don't agree that this is the right move for Ugly Betty at the moment.)

Sidenote: I only caught glimpses of the show, so I had no idea that "NYPD Blue" was filmed in California most of the time! That's pretty interesting and impressive, I must say.
