Ugly Betty Episode 2.16 Sneak Peek Video 1

May 6, 2008 by Tom

ABC has released a couple of sneak peek videos for Ugly Betty episode 2.16 (”Betty’s Baby Bump”). The first one deals with the baby shower that Betty throws for Charlie (Jayma Mays).

First off, I love seeing Amanda with this group of women. She almost seems comfortable (but still her usual self).

Secondly, is it just me, or have they made Charlie much more overtly mean? In season 1, you couldn’t tell if she was evil or just inconveniently clueless. This season, she’s Wilhemina with a non-hostile womb.

It does make for much more fun confrontations, though, as we see in this video.

The second clip makes me downright nervous: “Henry and I have already decided that we’re going to be together even after he moves back to Tucson…” And that was a lot of powerful high pitched-ness from Betty! Whoa!

  2. Bennu says:

I’m still trying to figure out why Amanda’s even at the shower in the first place. It’s not like she knows Charlie. But I love Becki Newton, so I have no complaints. LOL.

And I agree that Charlie’s gotten waaaay meaner this season. But making the “first” woman a total bitch is an age-old ploy to keep us sympathetic to the “other” woman. Though, in all fairness, if I was nine months pregnant and the father was dating another woman right in front of me, I might be kind of a bitch too!

    One word: drama!

    :S

    Channeling Marc:

    Soooooo much drama. *squints eyes*

I actually think there was a lot of evidence last season that Charlie was fake sweet, manipulative and obsessive about Henry. It didn’t show up as much when she was dating him, since she was the one in power. I think she has always been a bit out of touch with reality, and she went off the deep end when Henry broke up with her after “Secretaries’ Day.” So in that sense I feel sorry for her, but hopefully she gets a grip on reality and moves on.

This episode looks great, by the way. Very funny.
