Poll: Lindsay Lohan on Ugly Betty

So, it’s official : Lindsay Lohan will be appearing in the upcoming Ugly Betty season finale on May 22, and FIVE episodes next season. Shooting began this past Saturday, and UBN commenter anna pointed us to a Perez Hilton post with an actual photo of Lohan on the set.
Now that we’re dealing in fact, I thought it would be a good time to put up a new poll. To be honest, I was surprised at the negative reaction to the Lohan rumors. But, I shouldn’t have been surprised, because Betty fans are not your usual celebrity gawkers. Part of the appeal of Ugly Betty is that it parodies that whole scene.
But, I’ll tell you – I have full trust in the production team for Ugly Betty. They’ve hit the right tone almost every time they’ve had a guest star. And, considering the little bit about Lohan’s character we know right now, I think things will be fine. It has the possibility of being brilliant.
If they can make Lindsay’s character somehow celebrity obsessed, it would be almost too delicious. And, I still believe that Lohan actually can act (she was actully pretty good ina few of her teen movies before she went off the deep end). Silvo Horta and crew should tap into that.
There are, of course, reasons why this isn’t a good idea. Lohan hasn’t shown that she can behave herself for an extended period of time for a while now. We know she WILL be a distraction (you think phtographers hung around for Naomi Campbell’s appearance, just wait till the Lohan/Spears industry gets hold of Ugly Betty!)
Nevertheless, I think this is brilliant casting. But, now that things are settled, I’d like to know what you think. Is the Lindsay Lohan role going to be a good thing?

I voted stunt casting, but I’m sure there will be some good that comes out of it. I just hope LL will do herself and UB justice. I really don’t want this to become all about LL… I watch UB for Betty, not for LL.
Lindasy Lohan isn’t my favorite person, but i admit because i enjoyed the Parent Trap and Mean Girls, that’s she a decent actress. I would call it stunt casting if she can’t act all. And like Tom I trust the UB casting people. I enjoy watching the guest celeb stars, and as long as Lohan’s role works with a storyline and doesn’t seem artifically shoved in, I’m down with it.
I think the big reason is for ratings…they will go up.

At first I was unsure about this pairing as LL’s behavior in the media has all but turned me off. However, when you break it down Ugly Betty is a TV show dependent on ratings and serves to provide one thing for its’ viewers every week; ENTERTAINMENT. So I look at it this way, LL’s appearance on the show is pure entertainment. Her performance in Mean Girls was perfect, (she’s great at playing those I don’t have a clue roles), so I think she will fit right in.
