Video: Christopher Gorham on Martha Stewart Part 2!

April 29, 2008 by Tom

Here is the second segment of Christopher Gorham’s appearance on the Martha Stewart show. Pay VERY close attention to the beginning! He lets slip a very important plot point about the season finale of Ugly Betty!

I am pretty convinced that this means that Henry is coming back next season. Betty is NOT going to go away with anyone, and if someone like, say, Gio, were to go to a certain European country shaped like a boot, certainly he wouldn’t be on the show anymore.

I know all the hints have been about Henry leaving the show – now I’m not so sure.

By the way, the chicken they cook looks scrumptious!

    wow….well well well…
that will be an interesting finale…Italy? wtf? Is Gio italian?? He probably doesnt have enough money to go there haha. Maybe Betty will go with Daniel.

  2. wooster182 says:

My guess is that Gio is going to go see family in Italy.

Is Betty’s choice between a trip to Italy and moving to Tucson? She may then indeed choose neither. But that doesn’t mean that both guys aren’t fair game next season.

If Gio goes on a trip to Italy for the summer, it doesn’t mean he won’t come back.

  3. wooster182 says:

BTW, Chris Gorham is an absolute sweet heart. This interview shows why I fell in love with the actor five years ago.

And I’m not convinced that Betty wouldn’t go on a trip to Europe, Tom. Why wouldn’t she? It’s not moving. It’s a vacation. She’s been talking all year about wanting to go on an adventure. This could be a culmination of that goal.

  4. OMG-UGLYBETTY says:

Waaah, an unexpected error :( I wanna watch it!

  5. Jessica King says:

Wait, you meant Freddy Rodriguez leave on the show for next show, right. But I read on The Kids Are Alright-Betty finds her attempts to suppress her feelings for Gio useless when the two end up chaperoning Justin’s school dance together on 2.17 episode

  6. Butterflies4Betty says:

Wow! I am so excited that this means good things for CG and our Henry. It’s time to ship Gio off to Italy and leave Benry in peace.

I feel much better about Benry now!:-)

  7. Tomatish says:

No way. I think you’re making too much out of it. Gio’s going to Italy doesn’t mean he’s moving their. And to be honest, I think the writers should be crazy to just get rid of Gio’s character like that after building so much tension. It simply wouldn’t work.

  8. karen says:

Butterflies..I’m with you! But I worry this could also just mean a small vacation away and what if she does go? She has mentioned a couple of times , wanting to go on a plane. I don’t want her to.

  9. Michelle says:

Thank you so much for posting, I love Chris! He’s so funny and cute.
He didn’t seem too worried about whether or not he’ll be coming back, which makes me think he will. =D
    Go Henry!

  10. Teri says:

Woo Hoo! Tom you are the best. Thanks – Gracias – Grazie – Dank- Merci…A world of thanks for having the clip available. :-)

Yes, the dish looks delish sans asparagus though.

  11. BD says:

    who da thunk!
    Chris Gorham the Domestic Diva!
I was laughing SO HARD at first!

    and about the spoiler:
well it makes more sense with the Key words that Silvio gave us and Henry SOOOO coming back for S3!

    GO HENRY GO HENRY GO!

  12. Pip says:

Tom, thanks for capturing this and sharing it – what a great interview! I think Betty might look at the two guys playing tug-of-war with her and decide that she doesn’t want to go with either of them (if Henry’s offer is “Marry me and come to Tucson” specifically.) Her story needs to stay in New York and at MODE.

  13. angelgrl says:

I’m not so sure that the fact that Gio’s going to Italy means that he won’t be back. I doubt he’ll be moving there as his whole family, career, and life is in NY. Most likely it’s just a vacation, so Betty could make the decision to go with him. And even if she doesn’t go with him, he could very easily return next season once the vacation was over. And I still hope that he does.

That said, CG didn’t seem too worried about his career, so I’m betting he’ll be back as well. Also, mad props to him. He was delightfully funny and cute during this.

  14. cindy says:

I would be sad if Freddy Rodriguez was no longer on UB. I really hope his character won’t be written off the show. :( He’s such a talented actor and I have been enjoying the Betty/Gio storyline very much.

I would seriously doubt Betty would marry Henry anyway. She wants to own a magazine/be a writer and what better place than NYC. Plus, she would never leave her family behind like that.

  15. Butterflies4Betty says:

angelgrl: IDK….I’ve heard rumor that Horta really favors CG over FR. I think FR was put on the show just to stir up worry over Benry. I’m sure that things will be fine with Benry.

Betty won’t go with Gio, I think she’ll still be in love with Henry. Who could resist a good old CG?

  16. Elizabeth says:

Great interview…chicken looks great, loved the “Ugly Betty” comments even though I personally don’t think they are too revealing, great banter throughout. I really enjoyed it; thanks for putting it up, Tom!

On CG’s spoiler-ish comment: CG made accidental noises before the strike seeming to indicate he will continue to be a regular, so I’m sure if not by the finale, than by next season Henry will be back at Meade in some form or another. I personally think Betty will choose “single”–and that’s not a bad thing, it could be a very good thing. Both Betty and Henry have a lot of other drama to deal with and dreams to achieve.

Giovanni “Gio” Rossi is supposed to be Italian, so it would make sense to connect him to the Italy story. If it does involve Gio, it may be a vacation trip or an actual permanent relocation. Whatever happens, even if Gio leaves for quite awhile I can definitely see him coming back to cause conflicts. Actually, anything could happen really…Betty may even decide to go to Italy for awhile–this is the finale, after all, and she can come back in the first episode of next season–overall, though, my gut says she chooses to focus on herself for awhile. And that’s fine with me…as long as Henry is still her friend and still around to end up back with her in the long run. :)

  17. Jace says:

    Hmm…another ship-related post.

Alright, well here are my thoughts:

Maybe Gio isn’t the one who asks her to go to Italy. Perhaps Betty has the opportunity to go to Italy for work purposes, with Daniel.

But if it is Gio who asks Betty to go to Italy, then I hope she turns him down…BUT I hope she turns Henry down in his proposal as well. (And to be honest, I doubt they’d ever stay together very long, even into next season.) To begin with, Betty isn’t ready to be married or engaged to anyone. As for Gio, I really think he’s great, but I don’t think Betty should take a big step and go on a major trip with “the new guy”, especially since she took a relationship jump with Henry months before. With Henry’s baby being born, I don’t think that Betty is in the right state of mind to be taking a trip with Gio right now – especially to a romantic place like Italy. She needs to take time out and breathe, and then next season, she can date Gio.

As for Henry sticking around as a regular next season? To me, Henry’s status is definitely not a sure bet. Of course, we could see him show up in the beginning of next season to wrap up the storyline from this season’s finale, but chances are, he may not last longer past that – like what happened to Alan Dale. It’s really a “wait-and-see” thing. Same thing with Gio/Freddy. We’ll have to stay tuned to find out what happens to him…

And I have to clear this up: Butterflies4Betty, I’ve followed practically every UB interview, article, etc., and I’ve never heard Silvio say that he prefers CG over FR. The only thing that I’ve ever read is that Silvio worked with him before on “Jake 2.0″ and he had him in mind when casting Henry.

All of that aside, though – in general, it’s doubtful that a writer/producer would ever let their personal feelings for an actor affect their decision-making for a show’s storyline.

  18. Michelle says:

Butterflies, I think Silvio must like CG a lot…especially since he specifically called him in for the Henry role, he didn’t even have to audition LOL Although I don’t know if that would help him in keeping his role, I thought it was funny that he said that he brings in his kids to the writers room and tells them to look hungry LOL that was hilarious

As for Gio, I don’t think he’ll be gone forever, he’s probably just going for the summer…
He is there to cause problems for the main couple (Betty and Henry)…after that happens I have no idea, but I don’t think it will be the last time we see him.

Betty in general, I know she has to make that big ‘choice’ between them…hopefully she decides to be single instead of making a sure decision. Gio going to Italy, Henry going to Tucson (although spoilers have indicated that he’s coming back for the finale), it would be best for her to just take a break from both of them, IMO.
I love Chris and I love Henry, I don’t really care what happens, just keep him on the show and I will be happy LOL

  19. Thanks for posting the clips Tom, I watched what I had taped and thought CG was adorable as usual and seemed genuinely thrilled to be on Martha’s show.

As far as reference to the boot-shaped country…ha ha. If anything, I think, as a friend, Gio will invite Betty to take a trip with him to get her mind off of Henry leaving, no ulterior motive…and then whether she comes back with him or alone will remain to be seen.

However, if she does go, I do think for her it is just as a break and a distraction, not a romantic trip with Gio.

    JMHO.

I also believe, without saying it, that CG was saying he’ll be back next year, even though he can’t really say.

  20. Dani says:

As for the whole “marriage” bit..
CG said that Betty has to make to a “big choice”
And Martha kind of interrupted him, saying “Like to get married or to not get married?”
And his reply was more of like “to go off to Italy or to not go off to Italy with ’someone else’”

I think that Martha was just trying to make conversation, and it’s great that it happened to be about UB.

And yes, like some of you have stated CG doesn’t seeem worried about his career, but let’s just *impatiently* wait to see where we end up on the finale.

  21. Bennu says:

Yeah, I assume he meant a trip to Italy… not moving there, so I say it’s fair game and even if she turns him down that by no means knocks Gio out of the picture permanently.

And remember that the episode is titled “Jump.” Maybe that means Betty’s going to give in to something a little crazy.

Either way, you know it’ll end with a cliffhanger. We won’t know for sure till Season 3. Haha.

  22. Elizabeth says:

Yeah, the whole marriage thing I think was just Martha trying to start the conversation rolling…the stuff CG brought up was actual spoiler hints.

  23. Bridget says:

Love this interview. I think you should upload it to YouTube too; I think many YouTube fans are asking for this video over there. Hehe.

But thanks, Tom, for the awesome video! :D

  24. lara says:

    Gio should stay
    i loveee him

  25. mimi31 says:

    Hello!!

I read some days ago I read that Betty had to make a choice in his life, a very important choice between Henry and Gio.
Remember that in the episode 2.17 Betty fights against his attirence for Gio indeed have you seen the promotional photos of this episode

    http://ugly-is-in.com/visuals/displayimage.php?album=243&pos=20

I think it is true that Betty will make a choice is even more obvious that we can guess a lot of things about this picture …
why not start with Gio t’elle not on holiday in Italy
Because if it would start with Henry in Tucson it might be without a future and the problems hello and if so I filled Betty ..
especially when you see the disaster of his birthday that Henry has been misled by the lies of Charly. In fact she gave interviews there is not a long time and she said that her romance with Henry was “.. . Ferrera Betty describes two-year romance with Henry as “the kind of love that makes you sick” Gio represents “the type of relationship where everything seems so easy …”

    http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/celebwatch/2008-04-20-america-ferrera_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

therefore I think his choice could move towards Gio and I think if Betty hand with Gio in Italy (an assumption) I think that would be more to avoid the pressure and Henry may live to be their relationship with nobody around.
Otherwise why so many manoeuvre on the part of screenwriters around Betty and Gio? (For I think it will be for Betty difficille)
Now remains to be seen …
Escusez me my English is not terrible I am French.

  26. Tom says:

Mimi – no need to apologise, your comment is quite understandable. (Probably more than Christina without the closed captioning ! ;) )

Thanks for the links. I’l post on the promo pics later tonight (which I guess is later today to you). A couple of them are quite eye-opening.

  27. mimi31 says:

Oh thank you Tom is really nice of you! Ties and it is with great pleasure.
Thank you very much for everything you do because here in France we do not have this chance to have a site like yours the French are somewhat more distant vis-à-vis “Ugly Betty” indeed I think it regretable!
Finally I love this series I find it wonderful on all the points I think is the best adaptations of telenovela.
    ;-)
I wish you a good day at all!
