End Of The Line For Benry?

Attention Benry fans: Don’t shoot the messenger.
There is an interesting thread at The Bachelor and The Butterfly (a Detty site) about a quote from Silvio Horta concerning the future of the Betty/Henry relationship.
Horta told US Magazine that in the remaining episodes this year to “expect an ‘expiration date’ on Betty (America Ferrera) and Henry’s (Christopher Gorham) romance.” He says, “We’re going to start dealing with who she should be with.”
The poster attributes (I think) Television Without Pity, and ultimately US magazine, but I haven’t been able to track a hard link with this quote in it, so I’ll have to file it as rumor for now.
By the way, for the uninitiated, I probably need to add a glossary.
Benry = Fans of the Betty/Henry romance
Detty = Fans who want to see Betty and Daniel get together.
I love Instant Connection (the main Benry site), and I love Bachelor and the Butterfly (the main Detty site) as well. Both are active communities that have pretty vocal members. So, is there a Gio/Betty site? And is that couple called “Getty”?
Anyway, if the quote can be attributed to Horta (at which point I recategorize this as Ugly Betty spoiler, does it REALLY mean the end of Betty/Henry? I mean, aren’t we really all expecting a tearful goodbye,followed by a cliffhanger just like last season?
Oh no! Say it ain’t so! Although, we all saw it coming. I just hope they give him a proper send off, and don’t make him look like a complete jerk like their steering towards.

i am expecting a romantic heartfelt goodbye. but i was doubtful to think that the cliffhanger would be with henry again, since that is how it ended last year. but i don’t want to think about what they will do, don’t want to stress about it.
I can’t say that this is a surprise. To me, Henry and Betty weren’t meant to be long-term. I’ve been waiting to see how the writers would flesh out “the end”, though. So, this will be interesting – probably much more interesting than the whole “Will they/won’t they?” scenario that played out with H/B a few months ago.
In any case, I feel that this is a breath of fresh air.
I may be the only one, but it would be a nice change. I think Betty needs to get out and explore her options. Whether it be with Gio or even Daniel and even if she later decides that Henry is the one, then at least she can say that she’s tried to be without him. I’m all for the change and I absolutely love Gio!
I honestly dont like the Benry relationship. I hope this is true. I actually want Betty to be single again. I think she needs to be single now. Betty doesnt seem to have any feelings towards Gio, she’s made that clear.

Just FYI – I have the US magazine and this is the exact wording.

So the only actual quote from SH – is the one at the end…..anyway, it should be on the newstands this week.

As many people can tell from these posts, Getty/Detty/single Betty supporters heavily outweight Benry fans. And let’s face it– on TV shows, once a love interest is gone, he or she is GONE. I don’t remember any couple who got together, broke up, and then got together for good a few seasons later… except for Ross and Rachel!
I can’t believe it’s the end for Benry. They are the most genuine couple on tv, their chemistry is amazing. And while I can understand the writers breaking them up to keep it interesting ( although personally I wish they wouldn’t) I can’t believe the writers are ending things for good.
Personally I hope when SH said ‘expiration date’, he meant for now.
I think only on this particular topic…the other relationship fans outweigh Benry fans, but…there are still quite a few out there and on this site! :]
It’s sad that they will come to an end this season, but H/B are total endgame, so I am not that worried.
well, i just saw on the Ausiello report that there definately won’t be a Daniel/Betty thing going on.i guess both America and Eric both felt that way from the begining.
I don’t think the clip said a B/D romance definitely won’t happen. It just said that Eric and America were vehemently opposed to the romance prior to Season 1. But it never said that storyline won’t happen for sure.
I think it’s funny how people interpret these things – first the US Magazine issue, and now this TV Guide video clip. These things don’t put a kibosh on anything specific, if you read/listen to them closely.
What? That is why in colombia – original UB country – people are saying they ruined Ugly Betty spirit. How can they refuse to put Betty and daniel together? The show will lose all the U B spirit.In Russia , Germany Mexico, India, wherever, the similar characters end together. I wish they do the same on the US version, too.
