Vanessa Williams Talks About Getting Older In Hollywood
March 2, 2008 by Tom
One thing you can say about Vanessa Williams, she says what’s on her mind. As you most likely know, she told Barbara Walters, unabashedly, that she does Botox, and she outed the rest of “mature” Hollywood as well.
Apparently, that wasn’t a one-time publicity stunt. As usual Vanessa has plenty to say, and she recently spoke with Shaun Robinson of Access Hollywood and Vanessa didn’t hold back. When asked if she has ever been tempted to lie about her age, Williams is practical: “No, because it’s public record. I mean, I became famous at 20 so there is no… Why should I lie?” she says.
She tells how she keeps that amazing body. One way is through yoga. “Yeah, yoga is a nice escape even though it’s a lot of hard work and you end up sweating a lot,” she said. Vanessa exercises everyday. She also has a personal trainer, but she admits she still sees flaws in herself.
“There are certain areas that I have to camouflage,” Vanessa said. “I haven’t had a tummy tuck yet so I have skin because I have been pregnant four times. On the red carpet I’ve always got my Spanks from under-bust to mid-thigh.”
I love the fact that she said “yet” (about a tummy tuck) - and you have to wonder how many other starlets get their Spanks on when they hit the red carpet.
She was asked about Botox. When did she decide to try it? “At 40,” Vanessa revealed. “It was kind of one of those let me try it [things]. I do it sporadically. I do it when I want to feel refreshed and I certainly don’t do it to the point where I can’t — I mean my livelihood is acting.
“If I can’t move my face, if I have no expression, especially for the character Wilhelmina Slater, I would have no job if I couldn’t, you know, scowl and raise my eyebrow,” Vanessa continued.
When asked about whether she’d ever get a facelift, she said, “I hope by the time I need a face lift, they will have some kind of magic tape you can put and it will dissolve, no cutting, no recovery.”
That’s what I need. Magic tape.
