Video: Vanessa Williams Accepts Human Rights Campaign Award

February 27, 2008 by Tom

Ugly Betty’s Vanessa Williams has been getting around a lot lately.  Not only was she very active on the Oscar night festivities last Sunday, but the night before, she accepted the Ally for Equality award at the New York Human Rights Campaign (HRC) gala.  Here is the video of her speech – it’s very engaging, and she seems to be speaking without notes.  I love that.

Becki Newton introduced her.  At the beginning, she says that the Ugly Betty cast goes back to work in 3 weeks (and this was a week ago).  If my math is right, look for filming to begin March 10.  When that happens, we’re going to have all kinds of spoilers and photos.

It’s coming people!

This video is long, but Vanessa is gorgeous and quite eloquent.  You have to check out the very end, at least.  You may not agree with all of the political issues she speaks about, but it’s still hard to take your eyes off her.  Check it out!
