Upcoming Ugly Betty Cast Member Movies

Michael Urie has begun filming a new indie thriller movie called “The Beacon”. The movie will star Teri Polo (The West Wing , Meet The Parents). Urie will play an “eccentric young professor” – can you think of a more perfect role for him?
The movie centers around Bryn (Polo), a thirty-something woman grieving the loss of her 4-year old son. With her professor and author husband played by David Rees Snell (The Shield), she moves into the old and charming Beacon apartments. There, she begins to see a boy who died in a fall down the Beacon’s elevator shaft while attempting to escape his abusive father. Urie’s character attempts to help Bryn save the boy’s spirit.
The movie also stars Michael Ironside (”ER”). Filming began this week in Dallas.
In the more near-term, America Ferrera’s “Under The Same Moon” (La Misma Luna) opens March 19. This one should open up a lot of discussion, because the subtext of the movie is illegal immigration, as is the US presidential election. In a nutshell, the movie follows a young boy, left in Mexico with his grandmother by his mother who travels to the US to get work to support her family. When his grandmother suddenly dies, he embarks on a quest to cross the border and find his mother.

Ferrera and Jesse Garcia play Mexican-American students who help the boy in his quest by stashing him under the back seat of their minivan.
The movie received a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival.
The plot, to me, looks eerily similar to another child’s-quest movie, I Am David. My wife and I LOVED that one (get out your hankies if you haven’t seen it). I have no doubt we’ll love this one, too.
Also, don’t forget, Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 comes out in August!
One day, America Ferrera will win an Oscar, mark my words. This is just the beginning.

I’m pretty sure Christopher Gorham was in a movie too, about the war. He read a story from a real soldier or something? I read it in an article. John Krazinski from The Office is in it too.
I thnk Micheal urie will be funny as a young, eccentric professor. I had no idea he was so talented he could make films. Its definitely going to be good because Micheal urie is extremely talented and my favourite character on TV. (PS. He’s currently on my Ugly Betty calender.

Just FYI, Michael’s not doing the movie. It’s going to be shot in Dallas, and I’m working on it. It didn’t work into his schedule.
