Amanda’s Secret, Lost Love
What if there were some kind of reality shift, and characters from Ugly Betty ended up thrown together with characters from other shows? If you know Ugly Betty, you KNOW there would have to be romance!
Wouldn’t it be interesting if Amanda Sommers[formerly Tanen], in 2004, had been on the island with all the others from Lost ? I have no doubt she’d hook up with James “Sawyer” Ford .
I recently discussed this scenario with Nikki at Approaching Lost , and here’s what we think would happen between them:
How They Met:
The two were both on flight Oceanic 815. Sawyer was heading back to the United States after being deported from Australia. Amanda was returning from a vacation to Sydney, one paid for by Wilhelmina after Amanda blackmailed her about the secret trip to Mexico for a butt-lift! Sawyer found her slightly annoying and gave Amanda the nickname “Duchess” after she made the statement that she wants to marry a Duke since a “a prince would be too much pressure”. Amanda tends to go for the guys who have no interest in her, so Sawyer’s constant insults intrigued her.

Why They Are Compatible:
Both Amanda and Sawyer have insecurities and skeletons in their closet that they need to work through to be happy. Perhaps they can do this together!
Their First Date:
If you can call it a date! Sawyer cons Amanda into watching over his stash while he’s out trampling through the jungle with Jack and Locke. Having nothing better to do, she begins snooping through the tent. Feeling nervous about the crash she begins eating a ton of his food horde. Sawyer comes back into camp, and in an attempt to hide what she’s been doing, Amanda quickly puts out some food on a blanket and says that it’s a picnic lunch.
Their First Fight:
They bicker constantly. It’s definitely a love-hate relationship. In the middle of the flights Sawyer insults Amanda, but she doesn’t “get it” until a couple of days later – after they’ve already made up!
Their Future:
Who knows if this dynamic duo will make it off the island together. But hopefully they get some closure on their respective pasts! Now that Sawyer has killed the real Sawyer, he is ready for some healing… And Amanda needs some loving after being dumped by her boss,Daniel.

Oh, and I’ll tell you now that somebody else from Ugly Betty is going to find Lost love…

You have to wonder what Amanda would look like on the island with plain clothes, messy hair and no skin care. Kate always had that tomboy thing going, which Sawyer likes. How do you think Amanda would deal with that part?

Amanda would find a way to look great and sexy on the island. Or hear her talk about how sexy she looked or trick the other women by telling them what makes them sexy. Even when the don’t. With Amanda anything is possible.
