Ugly Betty Up For GLAAD Award
The 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards nominations were announced at the Queer Lounge in Park City, Utah, on Sunday, January 20th, 2008. Ugly Betty was nominated in the Outstanding Television Comedy category, along with Desperate Housewives, Exes and Ohs, The War at Home and The Sarah Silverman Program.
The 2008 GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards has 172 nominees in 40 categories. They will be split into four ceremonies, held in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and southern Florida in March, April and May.
“This year’s extraordinary nominees exemplify the important strides we have made as a community toward creating a truly inclusive society,” GLAAD President Neil Giuliano said in a statement.
Some might not understand how a show can win a Family Television Award and get nominated for a GLAAD award at the same time. I can: it’s top-notch writing. Which is all the more reason that Silvio Horta and crew need to get back to work as soon as possible. Reality TV is growing old very quickly.
