A Few Loose Ends From Ugly Betty Episode 2.12
First of all, I want to make clear that last night’s Ugly Betty, episode 2.12, Odor In the Court, was one of my favorite episodes, ever. Seeing Betty go berzerk was side-splitting funny. I loved how, for this one episode, Micheal Urie, Marc Indelicato, Ana Ortiz, and Eric Mabius all got to play the “straight man” to Betty’s craziness. America Ferrera is one great comedic actress. As EOnline’s Kristin (actually, Korbi) said: “These are the moments that Emmys are made of…”
Having said that, there were a few moments that made me say, “Yeah, but what about…?” I’m not the type that demands realism out of my entertainment, mind you. Especially shows like Ugly Betty. But there were a couple of times where it was obvious the writers did not come in to help with tidying things up in the post-filming stage. Let me list a couple, and you can tell me if I’m just being nit-picky. Warning, these are major spoilers if you haven’t seen the episode:
- What happened to the charges against Claire for escaping prison? Maybe that’ll come up in a future episode, but only the murder charges were dropped, as far as I could tell. I guess I’ve had too many years of watching Law and Order, but it bugged me a little.
- Why did it take Henry so long to call? He called her while she was in the doctor’s office, and Betty seemed to drop being angry at him (granted, she was down from her high). But, what was the reason he waited till the next day to call? Did I miss something?
- How did Gio afford such a nice sandwich shop? Maybe this was explained earlier in the year, but I expected his shop to be little more than a closet (like many of the office-based sandwich shops I’ve seen). It just seemed a little nicer than I expected.
- Why didn’t Marc and Wilhelmina just keep the Jackie Kennedy dress? Of course, the way it played out in the show was funnier, but it seemed strange that they had it in their hands and only needed to hide it, but didn’t.
One other thing I notice that wasn’t a nitpick, but was kind of a neat discovery: they’ve never shown Fey’s Sommer’s whole face. She’s always had on huge sunglasses, or is obscured like in this picture:
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong. But I’m pretty sure I’m not.

I agree. I wonder if these will be answered…. or not. I bet they destroyed the dress to make absolute sure that Christina could never get it, though

I also was wondering about Alexis. Hasn’t she been acting really rude for the past couple episodes? Why suddenly was she really nice and normal?

These two episodes were great!!
But Silvio Horta has to back because there are somethings that dont match. For example:
-In the season 1, Claire says “i killed Fey Sommers and i dont care”. Now, in this new episode she says: “i was crazy i dont know why” ??? then? :/
-In the episode 11 , Alexis was a byatch with Daniel. Now she is very nice.
But I laugh a lot when Betty is in drugs, lol! Nice Idea!

I think there’s a lot more to the Fey Sommers mystery left to be revealed. We still haven’t been told why Fey’s body wasn’t in the coffin or who the mysterious Fey look-alike Bradford saw in the tomb was.
I half expected Fey to turn up alive in this episode.
Oh well.

These are interesting observations. Another one that bugged me was the whole perfume thing. Even if Amanda had replaced it with water, there still would have been enough residue to be caught in an analysis. I doubt Amanda would have had the forsight to wash the bottle.

Well … i was thinking:
-In Season 1, Claire was crazy because the whole perfume thing (Fey gave that to Claire in April 2006) … Now she is “almost” normal because she don’t use that anymore.
-Alexis and Daniel always fight about everything. They are brothers. They always fight.

i know michelle. sometimes, alexis character just puzzles me. some episodes she’s so nice and others she’s such a bxxch. i just don’t know what to think of her just yet.
