Ugly Betty Crew Members Support GetBackInThatRoom.Com
Now, this is interesting. If you haven’t heard, a new blog and organization (Get Back In That Room) has been started by non-writer crew members of various TV shows who have been laid off because of the WGA strike. Their purpose: to put pressure on both sides of the dispute to, well, “get back in that room”. It was put most eloquently in the letter they sent to Patric Verrone (WGA) and Nick Counter (representing the producers alliance):
Dear Mr. Verrone & Mr. Counter:
What is to follow will take no stance on the issues of the current strike.
This letter exists as a passionate plea from the hundreds of good people (non-writers) who have been laid off as a result of the strike.
It also exists to shine a spotlight on the fact that while we are at a stale mate, with no one negotiating, more and more people with families, rents, and student loans, are going on unemployment.

Attached to this letter you will find a list of those who have contacted us so far.
Once this list goes public, it will grow. You and the press will continue to receive the updated list of the collateral damage, in perpetuity.
For their livelihoods, you owe it to the people on this list to return to the negotiating table immediately and not emerge until a resolution is reached, as your positions as chief negotiators for the WGA & AMPTP dictate you do.
Peoples’ lives are being devastated and you’re the ones that can choose to make it right.

There are quite a few Ugly Betty crew members who have signed on as “supporters” - I debated whether or not to list them because they work for one of the sides, and this is quite a brave stance. However, the blog is public, and there has been a story in Variety about it, so I’m not giving away any secrets.
